A Painful Waste of Time
This game is rife with severe balancing issues, many of which have existed since the game's creation and Blizzard blatantly chooses not to fix. As well as a steady stream of new balance problems with each addition. The ranking system is poorly done and rewards skilless play while punishing experience, climbing is strictly a matter of time investment rather than knowledge and strategy. Most players will resort to unsportsmanlike conduct and disrespectful behavior, because frankly player management is practically nonexistent and the game lacks a report feature. Quests are only applicable in pvp, deterring players from the single-player mode, which isn't supported regardless. Story mode is fun, but doesn't offer replay value of any kind. Tavern Brawl can be a refreshing reprieve from the literal endless ranked climb, but it's not available for a large portion of the week and many of the featured game modes can be even more agonizing or time-consuming. Arena is a fun game mode, but many players will blatantly cheat during it. Card acquisition is slow, but the crafting system speeds this up so long as you abandon some classes to deconstruct all the cards obtained for it. Speaking of, it's my personal opinion that less than half of the classes are even worth playing and only about 4 class characters are fun to use.
Used to be good but internet-based decks and no tournament mode ruined it.
This game used to be amazing and one of the most fun out there. However, in the last few months it went downhill very quick for a lot of reasons. First of all, the new cards are not creative and do not stimulate any strategy to the game. The new collection with C'thun ruined the game, not because of the decks focused on that card but because of other cards themselves. Second, there is not a tournament mode. All you can do is the oooold play mode and arena, which are initially fun but after a while they become extremely repetitive. The tavern brawl is still pretty fun but could do so much more pf it. Lastly, the internet-based decks. Hearthstone players are not creative anymore, 95% of people just want to copy decks that they see online and use the same strategies. This makes the play mode so annoying. Usually after 3 turns on each game, I already know if I lost or won the game. Be more creative people, try to come up with your own decks, not just copy from the internet. Anyways, the game has potential but it is getting worst by the time. They need some changes immediately and I am not even going to mention the insane card such as the mysterious challenger. All around, I don t recommend this game until they change some things.
Fun game, TERRIBLE quality control
This game is an awful lot of fun, and would be worth five stars easily if things ran smoothly. Things DO NOT run smoothly. The game constantly disconnects, sometimes in the middle of a turn, and that can often times mean the difference between ending the game right there, or giving an advantage to the opponent. Also, the rankings are not really as transparent as they would have you believe - sometimes, I get an opponent who clearly just downloaded the game two days ago (and I am NOT a proficient power player at all), and sometimes I wind up with somebody that I swear is the VP of Game Design at Blizzard. There is no in between. Not only that, but most of of the in game currency can't be won in what happens to be my favorite part of the game - the solo adventures. That would be fine, but that means that we are either supposed to shell out real money to access some parts of the game (which I absolutely think people who can afford to do so ought to do for a well designed and well supported game) or we are stuck trying to slough through broken and lost games for a literal pittance. I didn't mind paying for for access when I first downloaded the game, but in the last few weeks, I've begun to feel really ripped off.
