- Other minor improvements
I signed up for HiddenApp on my wife's recommendation back in 2012. Cost $15. Just got a notice that they'll be charging my account $30 in January (2017) for a the same, basic service, three devices. In checking on my account, I found that two devices had outdated serial numbers—probably my fault for not updating that information. So I deleted those devices and re-entered the updated information. I've received automated emails that the new devices are now entered but the serial numbers are still incorrect.
I've emailed support about this, but have heard nothing. Aside from the uninspiring inaccuracies, the app itself is pretty obtuse, and the iPad app is one of those annoying blown-up phone apps.
Has anyone actually used their service of tracking a stolen device? I'm beginning to suspect I've been had. If the app is worthwhile, one would expect some glowing reports on stolen devices being recovered.
Not free – purchase required
In the app store this app appears to be free. It does not offer in app purchases. However upon installation you will quickly find that purchase is absolutely required in order for the app to function. So what this app does is it avoids having to advertise in app purchases by forcing you to a website to make the purchase that you should be able to make from within the app. So my concern is what if you install the app and then Apple at some point decides to enforce against this company and remove them from the App Store or otherwise disable the app on the phone as has happened in the past with other apps. Then you're at that you're relying on to find your stolen iPhone could be useless and your iPhone gone forever. No thank you
So worth it!
I use this on all my Mac devices and have now for 5 years. It is unobtrusive and the peace of mind is fantastic. Adding and deleting covered devices is incredibly simple. The test mode is flawless to verify that it works on your devices. Excellent interface on ios as well as OS X.
