First of all, I just could not get into this game. All the dialogue interruptions, for which you have to stop what you're doing and click continue at the top of the screen to keep going, really disrupted the flow of the game. And were frankly annoying. In the iPad version, there is no morphing object in the sixth HOS. I tried and tried to find it, then looked online. It is supposed to be a rose morphing into a stick figure, located at the right of the screen after you finish the first list. Not there. Also the fact cards are not available to look at once you complete the game! You have to click on the notification that pops up when you have found one in order to see it. I waited until the end to look at them, and now I can't. The graphics were fine, and the puzzles not hard but some you had to think about which I appreciate. I guess if you've been with the series for a long time then you will probably be happy with it. I found it disjointed and annoying.
Update: I collected all the souvenirs because KimTwilight had an issue with them, but I didn't get that glitch. I did, however not get the "watch the credits" achievement, even though I watched them and got a pop up telling me that I got that achievement. This game was way too buggy.
I'm a fan of Eipix games. However, I never assume a new one will be as good as the last. I really enjoyed this one. I played it on easy mode because I wanted a distraction and not to be too frustrated. It was perfect. The HOGs were good. The graphics are pretty good but the characters are always so 2 dimensional with still photos standing in for an expressive face. Considering what they can do with the cutscenes, this seems odd to me.
I found the storyline logical and cohesive & the games ranged in difficulty which is nice since you can move quickly on some and have to work harder on others. I collected the figure 8 symbols but missed one out of 40. Pleased I could go back at the end and see in which scene I missed it and get them all. Great way to pass some time and get my mind off work!
Hidden Expedition games are my favorite, so I'd hoped for much with this one. The historical setting is great as is the biographical sketch of Qin. However, like Yaya stated, this game is very tedious. Much of the searching for and applying of found items to their appropriate areas is not intuitive. Logical sense isn't required for this game. With no map, I relied on the hint button a lot, something I take pains to avoid in an HOP. Then there was the device where you hunt down the required piece to complete it, turn the dials to the correct positions, and a *screw* pops out. Wow. I tried to imagine: what would MacGyver do with foreknowledge of Chinese tools? That helped only a tiny bit, because many of the solutions were simply nonsensical. Game kept me occupied out of determination to make my purchase worthwhile to some extent, but imo, it's not much fun.
