Another Adorifying Episode
This series is now officially on my list of favorite things ever. Shell out the seven bucks; you'll be glad you did.
For people who played the first chapter, this one is a little different. It definitely seems more focused on the "rational", or at least non-curse-related explanation of events, at least to a point. It seems to be the maximum level of rationality you can expect to find in Hinamizawa, at any rate.
My only quibble is very minor, and also very nerdy. There is a reference in this game to the cardcaptor sakura anime series, which ran like a decade and a half later than the year this game is supposed to take place. It also references the Kindaichi stories, although I am not clear if they mean the manga which ran in the nineties or the detective stories that loosely inspired it. I also vaguely recall a brief mention of the internet in the first game.
Not a huge deal; in fact these are the sort of trivial details that only the sorriest of weebs would even pick up on, let alone care about. Still, it goes to continuity and setting, and something tells me that the target audience for the English translations of Japanese sound novels isn't exactly the Call of Duty crowd, so I thought I would mention it. And......... /nerd rant.
So far I have to say Higurashi When They Cry is very good! It is well paced, funny, and often times, pretty creepy! I wouldn't recommend this to people who startle easy because the mood can change from comedy to horror at the drop of a hat. The characters personalities are well developed and the music accompanying the game is a work of art (in my opinion, anyway, lol). As a fan I think it'd be nice if iTunes got Higurashi When They Cry Kai (the answer arks), Umineko No Naku Koro Ni AKA When The Seagulls Cry (the sequel series, also amazing!), and Umineko No Naku Koro Ni Chiru (Umineko's answer arc of sorts). Please, iTunes?
Like the first, does not disappoint.
This second episode of Higurashi felt a bit shorter than the first. However, it was well worth its price and did not disppoint. I had fun reading it and if your a fan of the Higurashi franchise, you'll love it too.
