Enter the world of Hildegard Rhineheffer, a lovable hippo who dreams of being an opera star. She suddenly has her big break when Frau Hoopenholler the lead in the opera is ill. Hildegard is flabbergasted by her stroke of luck – there is so much to do to prepare! But then, just as suddenly as the opportunity arises, she loses her voice. What is an aspiring star to do?

Help Hildegard overcome her stage fright and become the diva she deserves to be. You can feed her a feast, help her try on silly hats, or pop the bubbles in her bath.

Illustrated in watercolor, with twenty-eight interactive, surprise-packed pages, this is an unforgettable story of a singer on the brink of stardom. The extras include Hildegard’s Famous Roles – hilarious spoofs of Madame Butterfly, Hansel and Gretel and other opera classics. There is also a matching game of details from the illustrations.

Previous titles from One Hundred Robots have been listed in NYTimes.com Gadgetwise, iPhone4kids, and The Literary Platform as among the best children's book apps.

needs more interactivity

what's great: the story and the illustrations.

not so great: it does not take advantage of the interactivity of an iPad or the attention span of it's intended audience. one limited interactivity per page isn't going to cut it. fine for the younger set (2 and under) but once you get to 3 and older, especially if they have used an iPad or iPod, they are accustomed to more and varied opportunities to interact with the page. more "easter eggs" if you will. a mouse in a hole, a spider in a web, something other than the ONE thing per page. something unexpected.

one page has the reader tap a character and a lightbulb comes on over his head and his head shakes as he's whispering to another character. that was the ONLY interaction for the reader on that page.

i saw all the 5-star reviews and spent the two bucks. i was disappointed. luckily it's only two bucks.

So precious!

This is such a wonderfully playful interactive book. I used it with my client who has a difficult time paying attention. She was so enthralled with the book that it held her attention all the way through which is rare for her. I loved it too.
Thanks,
