Ratings and Reviews
Great app! Just be patient with matches. It will happen eventually.
I started using this app last summer. Met an great person and dated for 6 mo. Like other relationships the more you can learn the more you like or don’t. For me the latter. But I’m optimistic. Always am. Just got back on. Put up some great photos I had paid to take and got great responses from some hotties. LISTEN EVERYONE! ITS ALL ABOUT THE PHOTOS! This isn’t rocket science.
I like the fact that you only get 10 likes a day. That’s keeps life manageable and I have better things to do then be on this app all evening anyway. The late notifications are a little annoying but so what. They’ll get fixed.
I found that Tinder and Match have too much rifraf you need to filter way too much. That's a waste of my time. Bumble is also pretty good. So far Bumble hasn’t appealed to the mega masses. When it does it will be a waste of time like Tinder and Match. But for now Hinge doesn’t have mass appeal but use that to your advantage. It’s better to have less people and appeal to public less because these people will have higher quality ppl then on the apps used by the mass public. In an age of instant gratification, you actually need to go against the grain and delay your gratification a bit. The right person will show up at the right time. Be positive about it and it will happen.

Good concept plagued by usual issues
Hinge is by far the best dating app I've seen and tried. However, it is important to have realistic expectations going in. Over several months, I have had only several matches, but that's normal; you just be patient. But each of those matches has ended with the person ghosting me. This is the issue that can NEVER be fixed. Hinge has implemented a feature to combat this, but, in practice, will not dramatically decrease the incidence of ghosting. While you can now choose who will initiate the conversation, if they choose you to start, there is still nothing keeping them from ghosting you. I've been ghosted after a few dates, and I've been ghosted after sending one message (nothing risque or boring, she just chose not to respond).
Penalties should not and could not be implemented as it would simply detract from the user base. Adding a feature to remind the person to respond would be seen as annoying or pushy. It's disheartening, but this issue will never be fixed until people learn to just say, "I'm sorry. I'm not interested." The problem is not with functionality or forgetting to respond. It is a problem with people, but this problem is not extreme enough to overcome what Hinge offers. Keep this in mind as you use this app.
However, do not let this keep you from downloading the app. You may get lucky if you stick with it long enough, but do not expect immediate success.
Hi there, thanks for this realistic feedback! We’re always looking for ways to improve, so please feel free to write to us at email@example.com if you have any suggestions for what you’d like to see from us in the future and how we might be able to combat some of your concerns!
Notifications are a major glitch
I really like the concept of this app and really want to like it overall, but there are a few things that are holding me back from a five star rating. Message notifications are the biggest so far. 90% of the time I never get a notification when I receive a message. When I do get one, it’s an hour+ after the message was received and I’ve already looked at it/responded. As of now, the only way to know if I have a message from a match is to actually open up the app and check. Sometimes I think about it regularly and sometimes I forget for an entire day. Not the best way to get to know someone and cultivate a potential relationship.
I also have a hard time believing that only two people have liked me during the week that I’ve been on this app. Not to sound vain, but I know I’m an attractive person and I usually get a ton of likes and messages on other apps. Two likes also doesn’t make sense given the number of likes I’ve sent out. Maybe most of those profiles are inactive? If so, maybe you should have a time cutoff for inactive profiles. If you’re trying to help people find a relationship, then a bunch of empty profiles is unhelpful and discouraging.
Change those two things and I’ll bring my review up to five stars instead of three!
Sorry about the trouble here! Email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "Review" and we'll take a look at these issues personally.
