What's New in Version 3.13
Introducing Story Cards, our way of getting to know you even better.
Unlike the tedious survey and personality test of the past, Story Cards let you answer as few or as many questions as you want all at the swipe of your finger.
We use your story to help you find the peanut butter to your bacon, showing you that that unique thing you have in common with your match before you even start a conversation.
I came on hinge after they had instituted the 24 hour window to make contact and two weeks to connect off Hinge before the match disappears. I actually really like this formula. It keeps things moving along in interactions, or automatically clearing them out. Endless messages online aren't helpful for making a connection, neither are blank profiles--this app helps avoid the first and, for me, prioritize messaging only with people I seem to have a real connection (or a decent chance of one) with.
Update: although they've since removed the 24 hour timer, which I thought was great, I still really like this app. Seems like it may have lost some momentum with users, which takes away from its utility, but as for the app itself and functionality for matching I think it's the best out there.
Rewind a year ago and hinge was in my opinion the best dating app out there. Clean and simple, Hinge provided users with a functional UX, executed on a great concept, and didn't stray too far from the wheel (Tinder); however, each new update has seemingly taken away what was great about this app. For instance, I used to view 10 new people every day, now I view the same 6 people and if I'm lucky 4 new ones. Profiles have latency issues while connected to both 4g and wifi and there are always issues with viewing pictures.
From a business perspective... I have no idea where this application is going because if it's monetized there is no way I use this app.
As a user and as of now, I'm going to delete the app. In Hinge can return to the formula that works and stop testing the application via updates, I'll give it another go.
Great dating app!!
I love the Hinge app and I recommend friends to use it because it's not overwhelming like other dating apps and sites. I like the option to say what specifically you are looking for "casual, dating, or relationship" with some interest tags so it helps me as a user to swipe accordingly. I like that I could put lots of photos on my profile photo section. Other apps can be very vague about that and how a person could end up in the algorithm I flow along with. I like the number in the potential batch of matches so I could let go a little. It's user friendly and I like the design. I always support good design and an app with integrity.
