Broken Notifications but they think avatars are more important
I have no idea how an app team thinks that adding random Features is more important then just having basic notifications working. This app is worse than useless, it breaks other hipchat clients!!
Here is how hipchat works:
If the app is in the foreground, then you can see in app notifications for new messages, as well as private messages. That's good.
You leave the app, you get notifications for new messages, that's also good.
Tap on a notification and it'll bring you to that chat, but if you hit back to look at the message list, any other missed messages are not shown at all. Everything looks read!
Now even better if instead of tapping on a notification you instead app switch to hipchat, or open it new, YOU SEE NO NOTIFICATIONS OF ANY KIND ON THE APP. You now have a bunch of missed messages that you don't know about, and the only way to get them is to check every conversation manually.
Oh and don't worry, any other signed in clients think you've seen those messages, so they won't tell you about them either.
I'm a fan!
I'm a big fan of this app. I've used it everyday now for around 3 years and it's a life saver. I can legit get work done on the go, or in bed. I love it!
The Apple Watch app is a nice addition. I've been using it a bunch and I've found one bug. Tapping reply from a notification takes you to the reply screen within the app, but after you dictate a response the reply doesn't post. You then have to hit reply in the app and try again. If this was fixed, the experience would be near perfect.
I am forced to use this app at work. When someone is sending a message the icon will get a badge, but when app is open it is not possible to tell in which room the update to conversation has happen. Similar when a notification comes in and I catch it, tapping the notification takes me to the app, but not to the conversation. Just by looking at the app's UI it is not possible to tell which room the conversation has been updated. Have to check every room, and every team member. This problem has not been fixed for a year now.
