What's New in Version 4.6.0
• We made some changes to the offline experience. We included better messaging and stopped showing you things you can't tap on when you're offline. Pretty impressive, we know.
• We removed the unabridged attribute from ebook detail pages. We'll still tell you when an ebook is abridged, but we will stop showing you useless information for the other 99.99% of ebooks.
• We added our tutorials to the help screen. Since you probably dismissed them the first time, you can see them whenever you want now. You're welcome.
• We fixed a couple of small issues with repeat and shuffle for music. This is all "BRAND NEW" technology so we are still trying to figure them out.
Best thing my library ever did
I LOVE this app. It is not possible to overstate this. My library system uses a couple of different audiobook collections like Hoopla (specifically Overdrive) and I can't stand the other alternatives. The materials you want are never readily available, you sit on waiting lists for months, and then they don't notify you properly if it's ready and don't let you renew it if you're not finished because there are other people on the months-long lists. With Hoopla I can find what I'm looking for and download it instantly if they carry it, I can get recommendations based on author, genre, or what other readers also checked out when reading this book, I can listen IMMEDIATELY, and I can renew with the touch of a button. And it stores my reading history long after I've returned the download, so I can look the book back up if I want to recall something, or check out old favorites over again. My only possible complaint would be that, like all of these types of systems, they obviously don't carry everything you're looking for every time... But it is a wonderful accompaniment to my local library, and if I'm between books there or on a waiting list for materials to come in I can always find something on hoopla to listen to immediately in the intervening time. LOVE. THIS. APP.
Fave library app with a few kinks
Hoopla is by far my favorite library app.
I love that I don't have to wait for content to be returned before I can check it out.
It has an easy to navigate system as opposed to some more rigid library app search systems.
That being said, there are some significant problems:
The audio book download isn't working.
If I'm able to download the book, I can't play it back or
It won't download completely and I can't access it.
I've tried killing the app, but it makes no difference. I'm hoping a device restart will do the trick. Killing the app didn't work. I tried returning the book and then checking it out again. I could return the book, but it wouldn't let me check it out again.
also had several instances where I've lost my place when the app closed or crashed and if I didn't have a book mark I would have to search for my old place.
That being said, I still get a great deal of use out of it. I look forward to see these issue fixed and other future improvements.

My library system offers hoopla for free and I use it non stop. I am an avid reader but after eye surgery I was unable to do so. It was such a blessing to be able to listen to audio books. The titles offered are endless - I never have trouble finding something to listen to and the customer service is great. I had an echo once while listening. I contacted customer service and instead of the usual pre-recorded answer I received a personal email with a quick fix and then a follow up making sure it worked. I am a big fan and recommend hoopla!!
