No Google+ Support, No App Support: IOW, Useless
While the Hootsuite desktop dashboard offers full access to all connected accounts & apps, the iOS app only allows access to some accounts, but no apps. Hence, is you need to cross-post between a Facebook page & a Google+ page, you can't with this app. On a mobile browser, you can cross-post to Google+, but again, there's no app support. Hence, if you want to post to Tumblr also, you can't unless on you're on a desktop.
Conversely, Buffer does support cross-posting to both Facebook & Google+ pages via its iOS app. Hence, I will not only be removing the Hootsuite iOS app, I will be canceling my Hootsuite account also since it really doesn't work in any reasonable way on mobile devices.
As for Instagram, Instagram doesn't allow any 3rd party app to post onto a connected Instagram account. You can only post to Instagram via their mobile app, which doesn't include iPads either. You can't even post to Instagram if you're logged in on a browser. So, for all the people complaining about Hootsuite's inability to post to Instagram, it's not their fault. However, given that you can't really do anything with the Instagram account in Hootsuite, it seems like Hootsuite totally wasted their time & money adding it as an account.
Hootsuite = False Advertising
Hootsuite boasts the ability to schedule and post to Instagram which is a lie. When I received the update and promotional email I thought that Instagram finally partnered with someone or something. So I purchased Hootsuite Pro like an idiot as I was already maxed out on the measly 3 free social networks, only to discover that IT DOESN'T POST TO INSTAGRAM! Even when I received a notification to post to Instagram it still wouldn't post. Probably because I was logged into my personal IG account rather than the business account I added to Hootsuite. This has totally defeated the purpose. I missed my mark on the scheduled IG post and on top of that they disappeared. Latergramme app does the same thing for free so Hootsuite just lost another premium customer. When it comes to building trust as a reputable brand, Hootsuite has failed. They have deceived the public and small business owners in order to make a quick buck. Now when I think of Hootsuite it automatically registers as a rip off in my head and I will no longer refer this company to my clients. I know there is some class action lawyer licking his chops somewhere. Hootsuite = Fail.
This app is great and convenient for when I want to post to multiple networks. I was glad to see the functionality for Instagram, but was disappointed when I found out that when trying to post to Instagram, unlike Twitter or Facebook where it just posts for you, Hootsuite still takes you in the Instagram app to post your status. Not sure what the point is in having Instagram in Hootsuite when I have to go to my Instagram app to post my status anyway...
