Downloaded this app after a friend suggested I check it out. I've been planning a trip to Ireland and was using the app to monitor airline cost. Initially I was sucked in by their price projections over time - seemed to make sense and also seemed in line with prices I had already observed. The app suggested I wait to purchase my tickets and that I'd receive a notification when prices dropped. Because I never used the app before I wasn't about to trust it with my family trip but I figured I compare it to Trip Advisor and also monitoring prices on Aer Lingus', Air Canada's and United's websites. The first thing I noticed is that although the range of prices provided by Hopper was consistent with what I have observed in the past, what they listed as the current price was always higher than the true available prices. This occurred every time I accessed the app. Additionally, Hopper states that if you want a more direct price that the cost is higher and provides an estimate of the additional cost. Again, this wasn't even close to be accurate to he prices I was able to confirm on Trip Advisor and the various airlines. I purchased my tickets directly through an airline website, but I have continued to monitor Hopper and compare it to Trip Advisor and the various airlines websites. The same issue persists where Hopper always had a higher quoted price than Trip Advisor and the Airlines. Another thing I noticed that is very concerning is that Hopper's price projections changed over time and kept increasing. A price Hopper told me was too high over a month earlier was now projected as a price they were recommending. Interestingly too, the prices dropped to that level for one day this week - I never received a notification from Hopper - I opened the app and they had the current price approximately $200 higher than what was actually available. My conclusion is that Hopper's concept is a good one but the execution isn't there. And based upon my experience, if anyone truly relyies on this app to minimize their airline cost there is a high risk that they will miss the best deals. Also, because Hopper allows you to buy airline tickets and because I observed their quoted prices to always be higher and because they claim more direct flights have an even higher cost, and because of the quick way they adjusted their projections upward - I'm suspicious about Hopper. My recommendation is stick with booking directly with the airlines or use Trip Advisor.
I'll be hopping from joy
Great app, fast, accurate and user friendly.
This app is really garbage. I found a flight more cheaper than this app. Don't recommend.
