Horizons is a interactive sound toy which brings together the atmospheric sounds of Eli Murray (Gentleforce) and generative visuals of Lukasz Karluk (@julapy).
It is an exploration of colour, sound and form. The design of the piece focuses on creating subtle colour refractions in a rich colour scape using an algorithmic process known as triangulation. Fluidity of interaction is achieved using real-time physics made using the Box2d library.
Made using OpenFrameworks.
first of all the icon is unbelievably beautiful which is what drew me in. I had to immediatley to know more about the app. after i clicked "buy" i impatiently waited for it to download, but the wait was so worth it. this is a really creative toy that makes you wanna just stare at the gorgeous colors and shapes. now i want an iPad so i can play with this on it! its lovely, buy it!
User manual please?
I am sure the makers of this app know that this is a great app, and they probably know how it works and how to exploit all of its functions. Unfortunately they do not do a good job of letting the user know what to do. They give an abstract description about the inner workings but nothing about how those shapes relate to the sound you hear. If you are going to deliver a great product, at the very least provide a little guidance, because the way it works is not intuitive.
Looks like it could be cool but it turns out to be pretty lifeless. Maybe it's just an early prototype and will get better? For now, there's no sense of connection between what I see and what I hear. It would be passable if the actual sound it played was more than just a short, boring loop.
