What's New in Version 2.6
Best Resource for Mac, Iphone, and electronic gadget news.
Just downloaded this and used link to upgrade to HotMacNews2 for free. Thanks!!!!
I have loved HotMacNews since it came out and bought Pro. After reading the review I tried the 2.0. Yes I agree the message everytime is too much. However, I don't understand the complaints about the ads. There has always been an ad for HotMacNews and all they did is allow other ads in the same place. Maybe the reviewer did not realize it. Also, there is a comment about the shake to change being new. It has been there for a couple versions before. And a comment about Shake being new in this version. It was i the last also.
After all of this I called the developer. Was explained that development of this program is dead and the Pro is the replacement. It is a little confusing because it is a different developer doing Pro. The changes made for this version was to fix bugs introduced with iPhone OS 3.0 and put the ads in the program to help recover the losses in development. Also there was a lot of behind the scenes code to make updates faster for news RSS and enhanced animation. Then there was a complaint you cant turn off the shake. The shake, according to the developer, was the most requested feature of a past upgrade. So you cant please everyone. All the features asked for in the reviews are in Pro for $1.99. Thats cheap as far as I am concerned. I spend more at Starbucks. I feel a little for him now in that he said it costs thousands to do the program for free and people are upset when there are ads. I can understand. Developers dont ruin their apps as another reviewer wrote. They find ways to be profitable like we all do.
He said 2.01 is coming out to fix a few issues and he said he will do something to cut down on the amount of buy pro messages but the ads are staying.
But I was also told Pro 2.0 is coming out with many new features. So I am going to stick with Pro for now and wait for 2.0. I think Pro is a 5 star app.
Also, coming from me. Reviewers should realize that a 1 or 2 star review hurts the overall rating of a product. If you thought it was 4 or 5 star before or did not review at all and now give this version a 5 star it erases your old review so you hurt the overall average. I would give it a 5 star review but make a suggestion or call the developer like I did before you give it a slam in the reviews.
