The Humane Eating Project helps you find local restaurants offering humanely-raised, vegan, and vegetarian options. As featured in Care2, Treehugger, Mother Nature Network, and many more.

Eating out as an ethical consumer can often be difficult. Using our restaurant finder makes it easy to find nearby vegan, vegetarian and veg-friendly places, and restaurants which source their food from farms that treat animals humanely.

The app contains more than 20,000 restaurant names throughout the US, complete with directions and reviews to help you easily locate nearby eateries serving ethical products.

Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or looking for restaurants offering high welfare, humanely raised food, the Humane Eating Project app is a powerful tool for you to use in the fight against factory farming. The app even features a ‘watch list’ of the restaurants serving particularly cruel animal products like foie gras and veal, so you know which places to avoid when looking for somewhere to eat out.

Searching our restaurant locator to find humane dining options near you, is a simple but effective way of using technology to fight animal cruelty. As a caring consumer, our app gives you the ability to use your purchasing power to create change.

The Humane Eating Project app has been created by America for Animals, a non-profit charity dedicated to fighting cruelty and improving animal welfare.

Install it today and help make a change for the animals!

Great app

I am Vegan. This app is awesome and clear map where is Vegan or Vegetarian restaurant around my home and my work.

Awesome idea. Just doesn't work

Great idea. It just doesn't work. I literally tried to search Chick-fil-A and McDonalds (just to search easy to find places). Nothing came up. Only thing that did was Chipotle.

So much potential...

This app has so much potential but has several downfalls. First, the filter feature doesn't actually filter for was showing restaurants up to thirty miles away when I had it marked for fifteen. Second, you can't mark for more than fifteen (which doesn't seem to matter anyhow). I attempted to add a local restaurant which is highly veg friendly but because of the quite strict criteria, it was unable to qualify. When I clicked on the info button to learn more, the app reset my entry and all I had entered was lost (frustrating!). The first two times I tried to use the app, nothing showed up at all.

Overall, I'm SO HAPPY that such an app exists and it does have a ton of potential...just needs some kinks worked out!
