Limited but great :D (at least for me, a crazy katamari fan)
Yeah, I'm a certifiable katamari nut ... I bought an Ipad because it has katamari games ::) I can't speak for how much most people would like this game, but for me it didn't disappoint. It's well worth the $5 for me.
The control scheme doesn't work as well as two sticks for me, but it's more than adequate. For me it's better than the virtual stick options in Katamari Amore. However, trust me, by the end you will experience some control difficulty! It took me many tries to first beat stage five, since the goal object is in a location super-tough to reach due to the controls. I apologize, I have no suggestions as to how to improve the controls.
I like the objectives of obtaining a specific goal item. A console katamari game should try that.
This game is quite limited compared to any console katamari game. But Ipad owners who like this game have Katamari Amore to look forward to, and that one does have a lot to it. And while Amore's control isn't necessarily improved over this game, it's never as frustrating due to its level design.
Motion controls :/...
The only reason I rated this game "2 stars" was because of the lack of control options. The gyro controls are extremely annoying, and it makes this game unenjoyable. I've played this on other consoles and thought it was great, so I thought this would be good as well. It turns out that the fact the you have gyro controls as your main and only option of moving, the game is a big let down. I would even pay for some touch controls. Please consider this; I'm not the only one who thinks this. Thanks Bandai & Namco and I look forward to an update concerning not only touch options, but other things that will make the game worth $4.99 in the near future, such as many more exciting and adventurous levels, and maybe a character selection. Thanks again!!!!!!
Gyroscope controls make this a chore
I've tried playing this game past the second and third story mode levels but gahh it's useless and frustrating. The gyroscope controls require so much precision that the game doesn't become a fun casual game to play but more of a test to see how well you can learn to steer the katamari. This isn't what I want to do in my time down time!! This isn't a 5 star quality game until better and more fluid controls are introduced. Get real people and do not write fake five star reviews because of the brand name- we have to be honest if we want developers to give us better products!
