iBCNU is an APRS GPS position reporting and text-messaging application for the Apple iPhone. When position reporting is enabled, the application will periodically send out location of your iPhone using either 3G or WiFi network and iPhone's built in GPS receiver. The rate at which position reports are sent out is adjustable. Position reports can also by triggered by change in GPS coordinates. Once the GPS information is in the APRS-IS system, it is shared between all users and you can track yourself or track your friends using this or one of the many APRS mapping sites. When used as a text-messaging tool, iBCNU will let you send and receive messages using the APRS-IS system. You can send short (approximately 512 character) messages to your ham friends for free.
If you have iPod Touch, you can still use this app by entering GPS coords manually.

FANTASTIC LITTLE APP
I LOVE THIS APP! Works quite flawlessly with one little quirk for which I have submitted a bug report. When changing the Beacon Interval to a custom interval, it reverts to 1 MINUTE...default selection 1...after receiving a call. Not a big deal, except you have to keep re-pressing the CINT button to get the Custom Interval to take effect after every call! Other than that, I have had absolutely NO problems with this app!!
iBCNU v1.7 on 3G S
Amazing! This is a must have app. It's really making me want an APRS rig. The UI is very nice and has an element of realism. You can even get messages that were sent when the app was closed. Changes I'd suggest: Maps are a little laggy to redraw, the default position interval update settings burn battery quickly, help files lack detail and the manual beacon icon should be bigger and easier to tap. This shouldn't stop you from getting this app though! It's worth buying!
I have used this app when not in an Rf serviced area. It works great for cross country trips but put it on car charger. Worked just fine with 3g and 4s iphones. I also talked to my local gateway station sysop and he echos me from Ip to rf. It was a good app now I can't connect to server deleted and reloaded app and still will not connect to server.
