The tour includes the most popular sightseeing stops and many more:

1) Athabasca Falls
2) Sunwapta Falls
3) Stutfield Glacier
4) Columbia Icefields and Ice Explorer
5) Peyto Lake
6) Bow Lake and Crowfoot Glacier

This tour starts at the Highway 1 exit onto 93N (Icefields Parkway) outside of Lake Louise. Join 93N from Jasper by driving south from the town. Its is popular to do this tour as a day trip by driving from Banff or Lake Louise to the Columbia Icefields Centre and back.

This tour is a part of a set of tour apps by GyPSy Guide to explore the Canadian Rockies National Parks. Other tours in the series include:

* Banff Townsite Tour
* Banff Lake Louise Yolo
* Jasper National Park
* And Calgary to Banff (Free)

Download the app on Wi-Fi from your network at home or use any free Wi-Fi network. Because the app is filled with audio commentary and maps, its larger than "normal" apps. Many phone/data networks may block the download because of size - so its important to download over a Wi-Fi network.

++ Continued use of GPS running in the background increases battery usage - we strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. This is much better than simply plugging into the USB port in a vehicle.

** iPad users - please note that WiFi-only iPads will not activate the commentary automatically. Any iPhone or network-capable iPad (WiFi + Cellular - whether you have a network connection or not) will work just fine.

GyPSy Guide™ produce award winning audio tours along scenic drives around the world. Enjoyed by travelers who prefer to set their own pace and itinerary on vacation, but enjoy a fun, informative and educational guided experience. Our goal is to provide a great introduction to the region and perhaps inspire you to learn more and return. None of our apps include paid advertising or placements for benefit.

What’s New

Must have for your Icefields Parkway trip!

I read about this app online before we left the US for Canada, and went ahead and purchased it and had it downloaded when we got there. Be sure to do this before your drive as there is no cell phone service along the drive.

I was afraid my kids (boys ages 13, 16, and my 21 yr old nephew) would think it was cheesy and not want me to play it. Boy was I wrong! They quickly named the narrator “Clyde the Guide”, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the history as well as learning about upcoming stops and whether they were “must see” or “if you have time”. The narrator was fun to listen to, and made the time pass so quickly. We drove from Banff to Jasper, had lunch, then drove back and we listened both ways. The talking points were similar going both ways, but not exactly the same. It sure made our 12 hour round trip fun!!

We are looking for more guides to use on our future travels!!

Absolutely great

This app is super well done. The narrator is super fun to listen to and it really made our trip more enjoyable. He points things that we would have never noticed and is very educational. His suggestion for hikes are really good and more than once he helped us optimize the trip. Kudos!!!

Highly highly recommended!!!!

One note to the vendor: you should seriously consider redoing the Banff townsite app. The different narrator is pretty good and I would kill to have his voice but not as fun as the the one who did the rest of the package. Also - the tour itself is not as good as the others, as sometimes it would just tell you to “turn right “ without letting you know what you would be able to see there (ie if you do not follow the full tour in one day, it’s not as efficient as the other ones). Still kudos to the creators!

Thanks Kathoo. Points noted about the Banff townsite tour, always harder in tighter areas to give lots of details. Our stand in voice talent "Ranger D", will be be retired next round. Thanks for your input. #gypsyguide

Like having a personal guide in your car!

I rarely take time to write reviews, but this app deserves it. I downloaded the Canadian Rockies 4-pack app, which included this one. We did very little planning for our trip. We basically got in the car in Banff and went where this app told us to go. The guide provides very interesting info while you are driving and at the stops. We definitely saw things that we wouldn't have noticed or bothered to stop at if just using a map. Love that it tracks us with GPS to give us info at just the right time and works without cell service. To top it off, the narrator is actually enjoyable to listen to and is like have a personal guide in your car (different narrator for the Banff Townsite app than for the other 3 but he was good also!).
