Description

Iconic creates beautiful custom folder icons that fit in perfectly with the standard OS X folder icons.

Drag and drop a black and white image into Iconic and it will turn it into a folder icon for you. To add your new icon to a folder just drag and drop the folder into Iconic. It couldn't be easier!

Please note that Iconic attempts to create a folder icon that is in keeping with the built in icons, so using simple black shapes on a white or transparent background will give you the best results.

What's New in Version 1.1

• The icons Iconic creates are even closer to the standard OS icons.
• The colour of the icons is no longer slightly washed out.
• Minor bug fixes.

Customer Reviews

Simple and easy to use, but folders look very poor.

Bought this because I'd love to make my own little icons for folders…. however - after exporting the folder, the text on the 16x16 folders (the normal size within your Finder) is *extremely* blurry, not sharp at all. In fact, it just looks like something is smudged on my screen instead of crisp lines. This is a similar case for all folder sizes outside of the default 256x size within their application (such as within the 'get info' windows).

The tagline is: "Iconic creates custom folder icons that fit in perfectly with Mac OS X’s standard icons." Absolutely *did not* deliver.

Overall, I'd say I just wasted 2 bucks… because this is completely of no use for me without nice looking folder icons.

Use Black & White Pictures to Make Icons

I've been a user since 2009. I learned a long time ago that this software works best -- and really well at that -- if you start with a black and white .gif or .tiff image.

It works by sensing edges between dark & light and between colors to make & superimpose a single, solid color icon on your folder image. If you use an image with gradual transitions from one color to another, or that contains shades of gray, this program may choose to draw edges where you aren't expecting them.

Simple, awesome

For folks who like a clean organized computer, this is a great tool for generating folder icons. I already had the program (from beta a while ago) and bought it just because I considered it a donation for great software.
