Cuppa for iPhone is finally here! iCuppa is a small application for iPhone and iPod touch to time your cup of tea as it steeps. Tired of leaving your tea too long, to become bitter and cold, or drinking it too soon and not appreciating its full potential? Then this utility is for you!
Just tap the name of the beverage you are brewing. Cuppa will begin timing the brew, and you'll see a teabag appear in the cup and gradually darken as the tea steeps. A countdown timer shows the steep time remaining. When the tea is done iCuppa will let you know by making a sound.
Tap the "Edit" button on the selection screen to customize your personal iCuppa beverage list and steeping times.
Please note: While iCuppa is running, it will disable your device's screensaver/sleep functionality so its timer won't get interrupted. Make sure to quit iCuppa when your tea is done!
What's New in Version 1.1
* Added a mute button. When muted, iPhone will briefly vibrate at brew finish (iPod touch lacks vibration functionality).
* Improved performance and appearance of transitions between views.
* Allow up to 20 minute steep times when adding a new beverage.
Problem with timer when iPod/iPad is turned off...
I very much wanted to like this application. I use Cuppa on my Mac, and it's one of my favorite applications. The problem is that on an iPod Touch or iPad, if you turn off the power, Cuppa stops running. If you time your tea for three minutes, and turn off your iPad after one minute has elapsed, when you turn it back on ten minutes later it will tell you that your tea needs to steep for another two minutes. Now, there are plenty of applications for iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad that can account for the time off so that the application picks up where it _ought_ to be when the device is switched back on, but this one doesn't do it.
Given that I like my tea _strong_, and I don't want to run down my iPod Touch or iPad battery by leaving the program running for 15 minutes, this won't work for me.
I hope that the program is upgraded to fix this problem, but whether or not it is, I'm still glad I paid the $0.99 for the program — the free Mac version is very much worth it!
best tea timer!
It's simple to use, you can edit the times, add your own tea/beverage, and instead of an annoying alarm, there are the sounds of a cup filling and a spoon stirring. The color changing as the tea brews is a nice touch.
Simple and effective
This is more convenient than the Mac OS X app of the same name -- it's great to be able to easily time your tea wherever you are, no computer necessary.
