Description

**GiveSafe is now Samaritan, better reflecting our mission of 'walking with, not by'. We'll be gradually transitioning in subsequent releases.**

Samaritan exists to reveal the stories with those we pass everyday—the single mom on the bus, the grandfather on the street, or the homeless teen outside the supermarket—and help us respond well in these moments.

When you cross paths with a Samaritan Beacon Holder, a notification will appear on your phone. Tapping on the notification provides an opportunity to read about the person’s story or contribute $1 or more towards a needed good or service (such as food, fuel or clothing).

The app currently supports Beacon Holders in Seattle, WA only.

What's New

Version 4.4.2

Support for two types of beacons now: both the old blue beacons (Gimbal beacons,) and the new black teardrop-shaped beacons (iBeacons.) This update also includes fixes for some bugs where beacons had not been showing up.

Great idea but problems with app

Johnrite

Still love the concept, but have never gotten notifications to work on my iPhone 7. Have had the person standing next to me receive one, but not me. Didn’t work for me either when the developers were doing a live demo I attended.

These aren't complaints--just want the developers to know my issues. I really want this to work!

I give to the profile folks but keep hoping an update will make it work for me on the street.

Great app! Good way to help the homeless. The technological solution is great.

Unique Approach to Homelessness in Seattle

JessSeattle

I love this idea! It's a humanizing way to help homeless individuals. I've gotten to read about of some of the people living on the streets of Seattle and donate to them.

I mostly get notifications when I'm in Pioneer Square but will also see some throughout other areas of downtown.

They recently started featuring different individuals each day in the app which is nice so that it isn't necessary to be near someone with a beacon in order to be able to donate to someone.

I haven't noticed persistent technical issues for iPhone 6.

Hoping they can get more beacons to people throughout the Greater Seattle Area so I can get more notifications outside of Pioneer Square.
