Telltale does right by IOS with a solid return to form
And I've only played on itouch 6 so far but the game plays smooth as hell (they clearly learned from their mistakes with batman)..the in-game text is ALL readable, the backgrounds don't go black for no reason and everything looks pretty sharp for itouch 6; tho no, the graphics aren't stunning or anything but the game is playable and we play telltale for the story...I'm VERY pleasantly surprised and look even more forward to playing on iPad Pro where it will look even better (though I'll get back with a better review on iPad Pro performance)...but as of right now, it seems TWD 3 can handle any Apple device itouch 6/iPhone 5 and up which is very promising - and telltale fans deserve it.
Update: iPad Pro version is even more amazing than I could have hoped! The only real negative I noticed was some little lag in some parts and some cracking audio (nothing a good patch can't fix tho, and in no way detracts from the experience) - the storyline is great with some kickass direction, art design and gameplay....No ones been more critical of telltale over the years than me, so you know I'm telling the truth when I say definitely pick this baby up!
Though, since Apple won't show review for Batman, shame on Apple and telltale for allowing a technical mess to be sold to the public. Apple has corrupt App Store.
Graphics are an enormous disappointment
Boy was I ever excited about this game. This franchise was something I enjoyed so much on my long boring flights in the air. I have been anticipating this game for so long. I just completed episode one and using the word disappointed is an understatement. It is as if they slapped something together just to get something out to market. The game has taken a severe step back. The graphics and character development were superiority in Walking Dead 1 & 2. I can't understand how a game could have worse graphics and the game suffers from serious glitches where there were many times my game would freeze up and then finally continue. I think this tarnishes Tell Tales reputation. Did I just pay for this? I'm seriously still shaking my head. Can't understand why they would put this out to market. It suffers from serious quality issues. If nothing else, the graphic quality should be the same if not better than the prior episodes and it's actually worse! Think twice about purchasing. It's a bit embarrassing. I also have completed both episodes twice and chose answers completely different from each other, but there is no real change to the story whatsoever.
I've been reading a lot of reviews and a lot of people feel ripped off due to the graphics of the game. Now I don't know if they are new to Telltale but I love the graphics. Why does everyone have to be so nitpicky. I enjoy games are the realistic but I also like games that make me feel like I'm reading a comic. The storyline is more important than have crisp clear graphics. I'd rather have them focus on the storyline than do a halfass job. If the storyline is is terrible doesn't matter about how great the graphics are because no one will pay. It reminds me of "A Scanner Darkly". I watched it for Keanu but love how the movie was shot.
Anyways, so for going off on a tangent. I do agree that it lagged 2-3 times for around 10 seconds in both the first to episodes but that didn't ruin the game. I stilled enjoyed it and will play it over and over again. Overall it's a 4 out of 5 due to the lag. Hopefully that will be fixed with the next update.
