This app would be a great app for keeping journals and such - except for one HUGE problem

Every single time I open this application and start writing, within 3 - 5 minutes of writing I realize I’m not typing anything in anymore because theres a popup message wanting me to rate the app. So after 5 days of clicking no thanks, and repeatedly getting the popup, which interrupts my writing, I’ve decided to rate the app. I like it’s simplicity, undestracted visual themes, ease of use and password protection, but the fact that it consistantly interrupts you with prompts to rate the app makes it absolutely unusable. No one wants to start typing thoughts and ideas only to be interrupted mid sentence, or worse, to realize you’ve been typing for several minutes only to realize you’ve been typing into thin air because the developer wants an app rating. If it weren’t for that I’d gladly give it 4-5 stars, but as this has happened every time information is being entered in for 5 out of 5 days of using the app I really can’t use it as it is.

Developer Response

Hi thank you for feedback. We sincerely apologies for the inconveniences caused to you. We would definitely look into the issue and make sure the prompt does not come again. Please bear with us for some time. We will update the app after necessary fixes. Thank you.

Needs work

For $5 I thought this app would be worth a look as a replacement for DayOne. Unfortunately, it still has rough edges and a few missing features. First off, there doesn’t appear to be a tagging capability, so there is no way to mark entries with related topics (other than creating an additional journal). Also, the only export option is PDF. I’d like to be able to get text of some kind. And I was unable to get the location feature to work. When I click on it, I just get a static satelite view. You would expect it to automatically establish your location, but it doesn’t for me. And when I tried to search for my town, the search box didn’t work. Finally, the so-called “themes” are just different background colors. It doesn’t change the font or style.

If you can live with these issues, this is an inexpensive journaling option.

Developer Response

Thanks for your review. Now, tagging has been adde. Also location issues fixed.

Fabulous journaling app with no flaw

This is a basic journaling app and that is what i like about DateBook so far. it does not come with a plethora of features as most of them remain unused by most of the users. It offers basic functionalities of a journal app and that too works flawlessly. I like this app and am going to stuck with it for a really long time.
