This is Spdr (pronounced “Speeder”), a reading assistant. Whether you want to speed read through your morning articles, or you have reading and retention difficulties, Spdr can help.
Here's how it works:
Spdr uses a cool technique to display words from a text one by one. Rather than moving your eyes across and down a page like you normally would, Spdr allows you to absorb text as it is presented. This means your eyes don't have to work as hard, enabling you to read and retain more text faster. We recommend starting at slower word-per-minute rate, and working your way up as you feel comfortable. In almost no time at all, you'll be reading any text in a fraction of the time it usually takes without having to skim!
(1) Simply copy most links or any text and paste into Spdr
(2) Set your desired word-per-minute rate
(3) Hold down on the screen to start, and lift to pause
Spdr is free for anyone to try in order to see whether the technique works for you. For those that want a richer experience with powerful functionality, we offer Spdr Plus for a one-time fee of $1.99.
Spdr Plus offers:
(1) An unlimited ad-free experience
(2) Image text recognition camera: Snap or upload a pic of anything you want to read in Spdr, like the page of a book, and watch it appear in the text box!
(3) Advanced controls, like font type, light mode, and text alignment
(4) Spdr browser extension: run Spdr in your favorite mobile browser. Simply open your browser, press the share button, scroll over to "More", and select Spdr!
IMPORTANT: Rapidly flashing content may have an adverse effect on individuals prone to seizures. If this is you, please use Spdr with caution. Link drop and the app extension for browsers work better for some URLs and websites than they do for others. Image text recognition camera results may may vary depending on text and image quality, including the surface of where the text appears.

Hamstrung by congratulations
I like this app. As someone with dyslexia this app is really useful for me and I would absolutely give it more stars if I could actually use it to read more than a few hundred words before it stops everything and congratulates me. Then I have the option of starting at the beginning of what I was reading, read something else or share that I am using the app. Why can’t I just keep reading? Much of what I read is longer than the instructions to ramen noodles but that’s the length of text this app seems to want to keep to. Let me choose when I am done Spdr and I’ll use you a bunch. I thought paying the $1.99 would remove what I see as a glitch, but nope.
Hello and thank you for your review! This is great feedback! Spdr should stop once the text you have entered has been read through in its entirety. If we understand your comment correctly, does it stop prior to getting to the end of the input text? With Spdr Plus, you have the option to (1) copy-paste text, (2) paste a link, (3) open through the browser extension, and (4) take a photo of the text. You can enter any length of text. In upcoming updates, we’ll allow you to save text like articles and read them consecutively. Please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any further questions. Thank you for using Spdr!
Swipe for the Home Screen Not Working!
I couldn’t exit the app after opening. I obviously 🙄 know you have to swipe up to exit, it’s a glitch in your app than won’t let me exit.
Additionally has a TON of annoying ads. Ads help pay for developers, but having an invasive ads after every use of the app is terrible; specially when you’re not offering a paid version and you’re just a new app no one knows.
Keep up the terrible UX (+ bad developer responses) and poor decision from your management team! At least the app UI looks pretty.
Hey Alejandropf44, thanks for your updated review. We are unable to recreate the exiting bug you've described above, even across multiple iPhone X devices. If you continue you have this problem, please kindly reach out to us at email@example.com so we can get this squared away with you.
We hear you loud and clear about the ads. Ads are a necessary component to the Spdr experience, and it's not unusual to find ads accompanying other types of media players. However, taking your advice, we've added Spdr+ in the upcoming version, which will allow you to remove ads for good, as well as benefit from any and all future premium features for a low one-time payment.
Thank you for your complement on the UI. We look forward to hearing from you in the future!
The pop-ups are crippling
I'm really excited to try this but the pop-ups are extremely annoying, like moreso than in other apps. Really need to address this.
Hey marMar17091, thanks for your feedback! We hear you loud and clear. Ad frequency has been reduced in the upcoming version 1.0.5.
