Great app for casual training
Edit: A week after I first posted this, developers have a new update that addressed the complaints from my review. Maybe convenient timing, but you can’t ask for better support than that.
It’s simple, intuitive, and I’m only partway through the lessons and noticing improvement. I appreciate the ability to randomize octaves, and now you can see stats without having to log into facebook. If you’re interested in ear training I’d say it’s worth the price.
My biggest complaint is the lack of options in the training section. You can only train with one note at a time, when I want to be able to customize which notes it cycles through so I can try to identify multiple notes simultaneously. Making your own lessons would also be a nice feature.

Thanks for feedback and support! We are working on it to improve your app experience.
Good idea, poor implementation
Exercises in this app are designed to improve your absolute pitch if you already have one. For rest of the world it’s useless. On day 3 it asks you to replay series of 4 nodes by ear - it’s impossible without previous musical education or being very gifted. On day 6 it asks you to differentiate between 3 octaves - be realistic, it’s not going to happen. This app is not based on any research how pitch recognition can be improved. Provided exercises have uneven difficulty progression and pointless to anybody without already decent pitch recognition. Waste of time and money. It has nice and childish user interface - that’s why all these 5 star reviews.
EarForge is really friendly & feels a lot better than Tenuto for example which feels a bit too stuffy & academic.
There are a series of things I’d like to see added to EarForge especially as the app possibly breaks away from the 30 Day course structure or builds upon it;
•The ability to select as many pitches, at least up to 8, as desired especially because there are quizzes & lessons that test on more than three pitches. I’d like to be able to train with more than three pitches.
•Added lessons, quizzes, & training on Chord Progressions (including inversions & advanced chords like augmented, diminished, et cetera)
•Added lessons, quizzes, & training on scales/modes
I really look forward to strengthening my intonation with this app.
