Gorgeous, thoughtful game!
I pre-ordered this game because the preview images looked intriguing, and I was not disappointed! The graphics are gorgeously illustrative and super smooth. This is a multi layered design, both visually and through the gameplay. The music is super soothing, as well. The puzzles were the right amount of difficulty, though some were a bit more challenging than others. Chinese culture even influenced the puzzles, which was really refreshing. I tried not to use the hints, but sometimes I needed them because so much of the game is exploratory-based. I needed to use scrap paper at times. I loved playing this game and wish it were longer. It's a well-made game, especially for being free. I hope the storyline will get updates in the future; very well-done!
Short but beautiful
The nice thing about this game is that the puzzles require real thought, but are also not impossible. The hints offer good guidance without taking away all the fun, and the artwork is phenomenal. You scroll through watercolors in a sort of book, but it doesn’t feel too constrained.
The only complaint I have, and it’s tiny, is that there’s no translation for written Chinese script. We don’t need to know what it says to play the game, but it renders a level of the cultural elements inaccessible, and in such a beautiful game, it would be nice to be able to fully experience all of it.
There were no significant bugs for me in playing, though like others the “speak to the rock” step glitched a couple of times before working. I’m on an iPhone 6. Same with the flute section- I eventually got it to work, but it took a few tries.
I’m giving this five stars- it’s up there with “Goragoa” in terms of art and originality, with enjoyable puzzles and clearly made by people who understand what makes a game worth playing. I look forward to seeing the rest, because it was short (but it was also free, so I’m not complaining!!)
Smart, beautiful, and worth your time
I absolutely loved this game. I played it from start until “to be continued” in one sitting. The music and visuals are beautiful, and the gameplay is unique. I enjoyed thinking outside the box when it came to solving the puzzles. I had a few small issues with the microphone parts but that was most likely on my end. The story is simple and quick, but the puzzles are where the game excels. I look forward to seeing where the rest of this game goes. I was also surprised to see it was completely free. I would absolutely pay for an additional chapter. Thank you for making such a neat game!
