What's New in Version 6.0
We apprehended some bugs that may have gotten between you and your music discovery.
Changed for the worse since the last time I used it
It's been awhile since I used Pandora, but it used to be my go-to music app. Have always been a free user, and was fine with the trade; give me 3 or 4 songs in a row and I'll watch or click through an ad. Now I have to listen to two 30 second ads (no more silent readable ads, but loud, inane radio-like ads that serve to do nothing but ruin whatever music groove I had going and HATE CenturyLink and the JCC's summer pool membership marketing team) not to mention the App Store force feeding if you even look at the screen hard. This means either (or all) that Pandora's barely solvent and has to: a) squeeze more ad revenue from each free member, b) try to manhandle and convert free members into premium ones so they can borrow more cash based upon a recurring revenue model on how long they expect you to keep paying, c) their investors/shareholders aren't content with the stock's growth and are insisting on cash dividends or a buyback. None of which makes me feel exactly confident. I'm not even going to talk about the lyrics options going and the bonehead who didn't have a backup lyric provider ready to support this user need. What are you going to do? Brand loyalty is a reciprocal relationship between customer and company, not the company and investor, that is called something else, and it rhymes with '-hairy and purty' guys.
I got rid of satellite radio and now use Pandora 24-7 Being a premium
(Paid) member is dirt cheap vs. satellite radio, ever since the buyout and monopoly. Who would pay rates equal to satellite TV for radio? Not me. My point is, those reviews that gripe on & on about the choice between paying or ad's (which aren't that bad either if $ is that tight for you). The main thing to be aware of is you'll need WiFi to stream music affordably. Unless lucky enough to be on unlimited data plan.
I've read the negative reviews and my belief is those are individuals who find something to complain about in anything & everything in life, so don't let them turn you off to trying Pandora. Try the free version first. You will love it I'm certain. Also one other thing, some reviews still contain complaining about not playing enough of the artist of choice when creating a custom station. They did listen to us and continue improving the app! Use the thumb up / thumb down system to help Pandora learn what you like and what you don't
THE Pandora App.
— The only problem with Pandora's app is that it doesn't fully explain to the user that they're in control of the app. Many people still don't understand that Pandora is an interactive app. The user needs to actually like, & dislike, music/comedy/podcasts/etc to best tune their stations to their liking. Simple. Other than that, I have no problem with this app. This happens to be one of the few apps that are nearly perfect. Easy to use, little to no bugs, & constantly introducing new music/artists. I've seen complaints about ADs, the creators of this app & the artists themselves deserve to be compensated. If you did not purchase the full app, do not complain. As a person who has purchased, & continues to pay for, the full app — I would make only one suggestion: Pandora, it would be great if Verizon users were able to stream using their data without losing data; like T-Mobile users are able to. Other than that, again, love the app. It is an essential.
