Moonlight Mahjong is Mahjong Solitaire in virtual reality 3D, designed specifically for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Intuitive touch control allows you to tilt and turn, zoom in and out to match tiles in 3D. Play “arcade style” with progressively difficult levels and high scores, or relax with one of the non-competitive game modes. The gameplay is simple yet addictive.
Moonlight Mahjong features four main types of play:
• Scramble Mode: Match tiles faster than the automated opponent "Tilebot" through increasingly difficult levels. The board is automatically reshuffled when you run out of matches, making this game mode easy to start and fun, yet challenging on the higher levels.
• Challenge Mode: Compete against Tilebot in full puzzle mode, with no automatic reshuffling, only undo. Challenge requires more strategy than Scramble. This is the ‘pure’ form of the game, but it is difficult!
• Puzzle Mode: Solve puzzle boards with no time limit. Choose any layouts you like. This is the original game mode, what people usually think of as Mahjong Solitaire.
• Relaxation Mode: Clear boards with no time limit and automatic reshuffling when out of matches. Perfect for when you're just not in the mood to strategize or rush.

What's New in Version 3.0.1
• This update reverses a minor change to the rules of which tiles are blocked, made in the previous version.
Version 3.0 supports iOS 7 and contains many improvements inspired by iOS 7’s new design. See the Version History for a full list of changes.
If you want a nice relaxing game of MahJong, go somewhere else. There are dozens of those games. However, if you want a game that challenges you all the way, this is the one.
You don't get a lot of choices in Moonlight; you can pick your background and your tiles, but that's it. Starting at the very first level, the game controller decides which of the Level 1 layouts you'll play. Every level has a choice of layouts which are all controlled without your input.
To top all that off, you're not playing against your previous score or any other human opponent. You play against a computer. The computer icon is in the top right corner of the game board and plays the same game as you at a measured pace. The pace is slow enough that you can beat the computer but fast enough that it won't be easy. And you'd best not waste time seeing what's going on at the computer end because you really don't have time to squander.
Ito sum it up, this a challenging game that will keep you addicted in trying to beat the computer so you can have one more round.
The only disadvantage to Midnight MahJong is that you have start every new game at Level 1. However, since the Level 1 that you play this time probably won't be the same layout that you played last time, it really is a whole new game to keep you trying to beat the computer and yourself.
I'd give this game 10 stars if I could. I LOVE this game. You have to be careful....... Once you start, you seem to lose track of time. It is easy to play, graduates the levels very well, has interesting tile formations, and is a great way to keep yourself entertained. I can't help but think that it is a great way to keep your reflexes sharp and to stimulate your brain. There is just one thing I would like changed and that is where the options button is placed. It is placed in the lower left-hand corner when you turn the iPad on its side. This corner is where the heel of my hand rests on the iPad. I hit that button all the time!!!!!! It is annoying and interrupts my game. Maybe it would be better placed in an upper corner???? That would keep it more out of the way. Hope the developer sees this-I can't find where to send comments to him/her.
I guarantee you won't regret purchasing this app!!!!!
Gorgeous game. Delicious graphics. The touch detection is so fine tuned that I find it almost spookily good. There are many modes to choose from. Support and development has been there for many years! (I could be wrong, but this might have been the first Mahjong in the store - if not, very close to it!)
Overall this game shows such fine craftsmanship that I would recommend it at any price. If you enjoy Mahjong, buy a copy of this; the finest incarnation available anywhere.
