Find as many words as you can by connecting the letters on the board. In each round, the letters get hotter, so don't wait too long to use all of them. By forming longer words you can get special ice letters that don't burn to make the game easier.
When you are stuck, you can always shuffle the letters. But beware: Every time you do this, the heat increases, so shuffle wisely.
Fire Words features a huge dictionary of over 70,000 words and you can see your improvements in the highscore list. Fire Words is perfectly suitable for short breaks: You can interrupt your game at any time to continue later exactly where you were.
What's New in Version 1.2
- New level system with increasing difficulty
- Bonus points for speed
- In higher levels, shuffling increases letters' heat again
- Refined letter frequencies
Lacks the polish of a good iPhone app
The quality of this app suffers in comparison to so many other iPhone apps. The gameplay is okay--a poor cousin of the online game Bookworm. Bookworm offers better gameplay because it uses a better method for bringing new letters into the game. Bookworm also offers better visual feedback of your progress in the game. Fire Words just seems to end without warning if you're not keeping track in your head about when your tiles will expire. I'd like to see the game reworked so gameplay can go on longer.
Great fun but could be so much better ...
The logic in creating a game such as this but not accounting for times when there are absolutely no vowels to create any word (LOSE) or, nothing but vowels (LOSE), and finally, ... not having a dictionary that picks of actual timely words. I still am addicted to the game (hence the three stars) but would have rather seen these conditions addressed. Maybe things will improve in the next update ...???
Good App - Battery Hog
I'm addicted to this game. It's challenging, but not too hard. It takes a LOT of juice to run this program. It uses up my battery way too fast, and my phone gets hot while playing. Other than making sure I don't play when I know I'm not going to be able recharge for a while, this is one of my favorite games.
