Backgammon is believed to have started in Persia, eventually finding its way to Britain with the Roman conquest in the 1st century and was played by Emperor Claudius who even had his carriage equipped with a playing board! It became such a gambling mania that it was declared illegal under the Republic.

Playing on the history of the game, there are 6 visually pleasing, rich board designs; Egyptian, Roman, Medieval, Victorian, Modern and Classic.

We also offer, out of the box, two classic game variations: “Old English” and Nackgammon. “Old English” is the most popular game variation in England. Nackgammon is a more challenging variation designed to add more creativity and skill to the game.

With integrated Bluetooth Peer-to-Peer support you can play with your friends over Bluetooth with no network required! You can also play against the computer in either Easy, Medium or Hard difficulties, or play with a friend on a single device.

My go-to time waster

I've played thousands of games, and love running up the score on the computer. There's a “flaw” in its program that allows it to accept doubling and even double back when it thinks it's ahead, even though its pieces are trapped deeply behind 5 or 6 point blockades.
Update-- better be well ahead so that when the computer rolls doubles 3 consecutive times (and it will), you'll be ready. Update—it’s not rolling doubles so frequently anymore.

Great but...

I have been playing the Backgammon since I moved from my Palm Phone to an IPhone. I just moved from the free version to this one. I have noticed an interesting twist.
The computer will say that it doesn't have a move when in fact it does. If a man is covered with one of the two rolled numbers. It will move in such a way that it does not become uncovered. This move not an option to the non-computer player.
It's a form of cheating... Just saying. And stop with the adds on the paid version!

Excellent - if not quite perfect - backgammon.

Love this game - by far my favorite and most played game on either my iPhone or iPad.

My only complaint is that "hard" isn't nearly challenging enough. I rarely lose, and while I know I'm a good player, I know I'm not THAT good.

Other than that very minor complaint, it's a fantastic game. If there were a harder level, I'd give the game the full five stars.
