Could be so much better
Text Twist for the Palm and PC were great, so I'm not sure why they messed with a good thing.
That aside, this version has problems --it's a serious battery hog (maybe due to the flowing background graphics?), it doesn't recognize common words such as 'core' and 'ape' (is this random?), and it just lacks what the original version had.
The twist puzzle isn't bad, but the other one bores me, especially with the constant popups asking if I want to change levels, then having to use the pause menu to switch manaully. Awkward.
All in all, I'm very disappointed. Losing Text Twist was one of the things I missed most when I switched from Palm to the iPod Touch, so I was excited when I saw this in the app store. I really, really want the original version again. I'm not opposed to change when it makes something better, but I feel this missed the mark.
Pretty good game - just needs a couple of things
Needs a broader dictionary - has told me that several words that are actual words are not words (one that comes to mind at the moment is 'grey' - this is a fairly common spelling of 'gray'). Also, it would be nice if the Word List could be accessed from the play screen - it is a pain to have to go through a couple of levels to get to it, especially as you get close to finishing out a level. Would also be nice if there were not quite so many pop-ups - maybe they could be combined somehow or something done with them.
Other than that, I do enjoy the game.
Addicted to this game, love it! Some glitches include- perfectly good words (edgy,) "not in dictionary," and after spending an hour looking for a "go-between these two words" word, when you give up, it turns out to be the same word twice. My biggest complaint is the very annoying additional whiney/moaning/spooky sounding noise in the background of the game showish original sounds. It's worse than any glitch. Please stop adding unnecessary frills, that are off-putting to your players. Please leave well enough alone. The enemy of good is better.
