Strategery, Macworld's 2009 App Gems Award winner for Best Strategy Game, has been completely overhauled for version 3.1! "There is no game I play on my iPhone more than Strategery," writes Lex Friedman.

Strategery is a fast-paced game of world domination, designed and built from top to bottom for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Play against the computer or your friends in an epic battle of strategy and risk.

"Strategery offers depth that can—and will—claim hours of your time."
- Macworld

Very good app. Very much like risk except for:
-The # of dice you roll depends on how many armies you are attacking or defending with.
-New troops come after your turn instead of the round(explained later).
-After winning an attack, all but one of your armies moves to the new country. I like this a little better.
-Maps are randomized.
-Even though you may win an attack, troops an be deducted from your side.
I favor this too.
The troop placement bugs me a little. It places the troops randomly through your countries, but tends to fill up the innermost areas, instead of the front lines where they are needed (this can be fixed by buying the full ver.). Since there are no specific regions(Australia, Asia, etc.) troops are given by the number of areas in your largest cluster, making separated empires unuseful.

-Choose your color.
-Colorblind friendly.
-Great replay value.
-Up to 5 human/AI players.
-Great content for a lite version.
-No local/online play.
-Troop placement
-Must have 5 players in SP mode.

I think some cons can be fixed by buying the full version. A great by anyhow.

It's wonderful.
Complaints other people had:
Battery: it's a game with tons of calculations; why is battery drain surprising?
Graphics: Really? *rolls eyes*
Random placement: I find it does the inter areas first, but that doesn't hurt anything. It just means that once an opponent breaks in that you get to smash them. If you compensate for random placement in your strategy, you'll do fine.
Die rolls: I find them to be fair enough for this sort of game
Add whatever feature to trial and then I'd buy the full version: ??? Are you kidding me? The whole idea is that you buy the full *for* that feature. You're kidding yourself; if you had that feature now, you wouldn't even consider buying. I didn't buy the full version either, but you don't complain about stuff like that. Be glad any of it is free.

Great but (Battery) draining game

I didn't think I'd like this but for free, it was worth a shot. I'm so glad that I did. Despite the compaints others had regarding automatic placements, I didn't think it had such a negative impact on my play experience. What did, however, was the affect Strategery had on my battery. On my 3rd Gen Ipod Touch, latest OS, with no apps multitasking in the background and a full charge, I can MAYBE squeeze an hour of gameplay before getting the 20% battery message. This doesn't happen with any other application, music, or video playing. This is the sole reason why I haven't opted to upgrade to the full version. If this indeed an issue that affects both versions, and a fix is issued, then I will gladly pay for the upgrade. Until then, I'll hold off. But it should still be said that this game, as simplified as it is, is superb and HIGHLY addicting.
