Slanted "News Source"
Absolutely disgusted with this app and Yahoo as a whole. Used it for many years and recently began paying attention to some of the comments on political articles. I started to notice the only comments allowed are the far right wing tea party comments. I posted several comments that "went against the grain" but were not radical or disrespectful in any way. My comments were promptly removed or "hidden" by yahoo and I was even locked out of my yahoo account on two occasions! I received email notifications saying my comments about Caitlyn Jenner had been "hidden" for low ratings by other users. I am very pro LGBT rights for the record. Yahoo has obviously forgotten about the right to freedom of speech and the have taken censoring to a whole new level! Do not use this app if you support gay rights, democratic ideals, or Hillary Clinton!
Well designed, fast, with good stories, but...
The ads. I understand that they need to monetize the app, but the ads blend in too well, and are too frequent. The second story in a list category is an ad, then every four headlines there is one. And the ad looks identical to a regular news headline.
Like one I got under news was something like 'do you love your dog?' And I was like yeah of course, click, and it was an add for a flea product.
I feel the ads need to either stand out more, be less frequent or just not be there. Granted the last one is unlikely to happen, but I would do an In app purchase to get rid of the ads. They really are horrible.
Lots of issues
The app generally works well and matches the normal full site most of the time. However there is a very annoying and consistent problem where the content for the story does not show up. You will frequently click to watch a video or see pictures for a story but the content is not there. There is a short description and nothing else, almost as if the source material was not properly linked. Very annoying.
