“It's a really fun time-killer that tests your patience and your ability to focus on small details.”

“This game is highly recommended.”

Hidden Expedition: Everest is the smash-hit hidden object casual game from Big Fish Games. Optimized for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch, this seek and find game is unlike any puzzle game (or action, platformer, side-scrolling game for that matter!) you’ve seen on a touch screen.

Join the Hidden Expedition team in an object-finding race up the highest mountain in the world: Mount Everest! You’ll search for objects hidden in breath-taking scenes. The adventure begins at Base Camp, but who knows where the race will lead? Find all the objects faster than the other teams to win the race. Dozens of locations to search and game play that’s perfect for the iPhone/iPod Touch’s touch screen, this is the one race you’ve been waiting for!

We even enlisted the help of Ed Viesturs, the world’s foremost expert on mountain climbing and mountaineering. Trust us, he knows the difference between a clip and a carabiner! He has climbed more mountains, faced more sheer cliffs, and spanned more deep crevasses than most anyone alive. As an added bonus, he was kind enough to let us use some photos taken while on the treacherous path from Nepal to the summit.

Could be so much better

Some likes to show I'm not a complete curmudgeon: I like that a club can be a card suit one time and a golf club another time. I like that the bulk of it really is finding hidden objects, and that the usual style is occasionally broken up with something different ("Find 20 gloves").

But I don't like mislabeling: those are 20 >pairs< of gloves, >pairs< of chopsticks.

More mislabeling: the "clues to the next location" have nothing to do with the next location. Doesn't affect game play, it's just sloppy.

The hints aren't hints, they're outright answers: click in the center of the small circle, every time, bingo.

Using the "hints" has too small a cost. (Compare to Rosecliff Island, with points off each time, and big bonuses for completing multiple scenes hint-free.)

In fact, there isn't any score, no way to do "better than last time"—only "did I beat the bogus pretend opponents, or not?"

And, bottom line: the scenes and objects are too darn hard to make out. Too small in the pretty HD pictures and too murky if you choose to zoom in. Is that a mug or a shackle? A baseball or a random rock? Using a hint should result in a "D'oh!" moment, not "What WAS that?"

Nice - Could Be Even Better

I originally gave this a 5 star rating with no review because it popped up the "rate me" screen. After completing the game, I have comments and suggestions. First, I noticed that several objects in later levels were so obscure I wouldn't have found them without using a hint Secondly, it's maddening to use a hint while zoomed in and not zooming out in time to see your hint circle lit up. It would be nice if the clue feature would automatically zoom out to include a full screen so that hints won't be wasted.

The game was free. That keeps it at 5 stars. Had I paid for this, the obscure art and wasted hints would make me bump it back to 3 or 4 stars.

Meh, seen better, glad I didn't pay for it.

There was one scene where the zucchini is supposed to be cumber. The scrolls are actually metal pipes. And on one puzzle the snowflake was green. I'm new to these hidden item puzzles and I much prefer the ones with an actual mission rather than going back to the same 5 pictures in different order with different lists of items to find. To me this game is seriously lacking. But maybe there are those that enjoy the hidden object hunt without the puzzles.
Cons: graphics (pictures are grainy),
items are not their true color, green snowflake, green acorn (maybe some enjoy that and feel it adds to the challenge. I feel it's a cop out).
Same scenes repeated with different lists of items to find.
No real story
Lots of items etched or shadowed into rocks or other large items.
