A: Photos, videos, live videos, songs, text—pretty much anything.

A: Yes, you CAN make gifs! You can make them out of videos, bursts, live photos, or just shoot them on the spot.
Q: What’s the deal with “reblogging”?
A: It’s a way to take the stuff you find on Tumblr and make it your own. You can repost other people’s posts to your own blog. You can add commentary if you like. Other people can do the same with your posts. That’s how ideas spread on Tumblr, and it’s how communities form around them.
Q: Who’s on Tumblr?
A: People who are posting and reblogging about interesting stuff that you’re interested in. Politics. Movies. Memes and such. If you’ve ever seen anything interesting on the internet, chances are it came from Tumblr.

A: A few different ways. You can comment on a post, or you can reblog a post to your own Tumblr and add commentary, or you can send a private message. Whatever suits the occasion.

A: Search for whatever you’re interested in. We’ll show you great posts about that stuff, and get you following the people who make those posts. Oh, you can also follow a search itself, and we’ll put sift the best material from that search right into your dashboard.

A: Whatever’s happening in the world. The real world, the world of fiction, the world of pop culture, the world of academics, the world of safety and justice, the world of sports. Whatever world you live in, you’ll find it among all the trending topics in the search tab.

A: No! You can totally customize your Tumblr’s appearance, right down to the colors and fonts you use.

A: Tag your posts. Tumblr is full of passionate communities of people who are constantly searching through tags for new posts about stuff they love. Your stuff could be that stuff.

What's New in Version 8.4
Looking for the little lock that filters and unfilters your search results? Now it’s a switch in the main Settings app. You’ll find it at Settings > Tumblr > Safe Search.
Other than that, Tumblr 8.4 brings you the usual bug fixes and performance improvements.

BETTER THAN INSTAGRAM!!!
The people that whine about this are annoying. It's more respectful of data that matter than Instagram or Snapchat so you can maintain the history of your activity to help you stay connected with the people that want to be connected.
Now Instagram will only hold up to 3 activity entries, likes, comments and then delete them as soon as I see them in favor of using more space for "suggested people to follow" which I know is eventually is going to be for peddling promoted people/products on users.
Honestly, I only wish Tumblr would add a tab for a streamlined feed with just single snaps/selfies stacked FED IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER with filters, short live videos with crazy filters only and a tab for twitter like text only, 140 characters. I like all sets of content equally and separately but want them aggregated to one app.
Very glitchy
Every time the app updates, it seems like it just gets messed up even more... :/ y'all need to stop focusing on the ""aesthetic"" and design of ur app and focus more on fixing and improving the functions of what's already there. On my iPad version of the app, whenever I go to edit a post I reblogged (usually to fix the tags), a lot of times it'll delete the caption from the original poster.... even tho I didn't actually manually DO THAT. The app just glitches out and decides to do that itself, and it's been doing that for awhile now... also now for some reason, when I go to look at my newsfeed, it's for the wrong blog! And it won't let me switch it to view my other blogs' newsfeeds!! didn't have this specific problem until this recent update... GIFs also don't load very often. Video player is slow. Audio posts barely play now. The app may LOOK nice, but jeez... there's a lot to work on....
It's good but it's not that good?
So I love the mobile app bc I can't really go on my computer and it's great that we can make GIFS and add photos to comments now but I really hate how when you leave the app for a few minutes or you lock your phone for a little bit bc you're doing something and then it just automatically scrolls back up and updates you're dash and it didn't use to do that… so if they could fix anything on the mobile I would suggest to fix that and also due to the newest update I can't even find the safe search button in my settings it's like not even there so they should bring back to original design back where it was on top of the search
