What's New in Version 1.60
* Minor bug fixes
Great app, but please fix the bugs!
I love using this app! It's a great chess app, and has almost everything you could ask for in a chess app, but it has a few bugs that definitely need fixing.
What actually moved me to write this review was a bug that i experienced while playing just a moment ago: I had finally reached a winning position against the computer on a difficulty close to the most difficult, and I had a pawn that was about to queen which would have secured my win. That was when, for some reason, my pawn just became "unresponsive" as though it wasn't on the board, although it was clearly there. I still thought there was hope until i moved my rook directly on top of it.
Please fix the bugs. I was very unhappy from losing what would have been my best win against the computer.
Would not reccomend
Even on the lowest difficulty setting the computer still wins. I've been playing chess competitively for a long time and wanted to use this app for in between practice. Not only can the computer magically teleport and make illegal moves, it won't let you put it in checkmate and says its a "stalemate" are the programmers that prideful or is this a glitch? Also won't let you make moves that put you in check or checkmate. I'd like to learn from my mistakes or end the game eventually, so that was kind of rediculous to me. Every match I have had so far has been a stalemate. What an awful game. This is also not a game I would recommend for anyone learning to play, not only is the lowest difficulty hard due to the fact the CPU doesn't seem to have rules, it teaches you absolutely nothing about the game. Just the occasional noise you get when you can't move a piece. Ugh!
Says checkmate for me
When I beat the computer, it said "checkmate! Player wins!" I am the player. I've only played one game on this app, but I was on the lowest difficulty and it didn't seem that hard. I only play chess every once in a while and am no chess wizard.
I think the reason it would ever say "stalemate" is when the computer can make no move that doesn't endanger it's king. A move that puts the king into check/checkmate is illegal in chess. A stalemate would occur when the circumstances above are true and the king is in a position in which he is NOT in check/checkmate. The computer can make no legal move, so the game is a stalemate.
