Backed up and searchable
Calls, text messages, and voicemails are stored and backed up to make it easy for you to search your history.
Chat in groups, with photos
Send group texts and share photos instantly.
Your voicemail, transcribed
Google Voice provides free voicemail transcriptions that you can read in the app or have sent to your email.
Cheap international calling
Make international calls at competitive rates without using your mobile data.
Keep in mind:

What's New in Version 2.1
Bug fixes and performance improvements
Good update but...
It's a good refresher to the old app. Hangouts was okay, but I know sometimes I wouldn't get my text messages and it would be very delayed. This alleviated that issue. What would make it better is it would log me off nonchalantly and every time I open the app I have to pick a phone number and re-login. So it's then making me wonder if I'm getting my text messages or not because I'm not logged in. Also, when I reply to a text, it counts it as a new message so when I exit out of the app, the badge app counts it as 1 new notification. So you would have to go back in, refresh, and it'll clear the badge icon count. I hope to see more improvements nonetheless! Great job so far!
The bad reviews...
**2nd EDIT: buggy and slow since the latest patch; minus 2 stars
...are unjustified in my opinion. I needed a second number for my small business and got one for no charge. It came with unlimited domestic calls and messaging plus voicemail transcription. The app is fully functional and works better with the service than Hangouts, which is little more than yet-another social media grab fest. I have not had one problem to this point. (iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 10.x) **EDIT: Wow! The 2017 update, long overdue at this point, looks great and works well. Dare I say it was worth the wait? I do wish it were easier to delete text messages (rather than archiving them).
Do not download 2.1 update till bugs are fixed
Today I downloaded the new 2.1 update. It fixes bugs no it makes new bugs. I can not text on new text. The buttons freeze up when you put your number in. After you beat on the text with the number on it it might open. Then you text and the buttons freeze up on the first message you send. I hate to go delete a text message you can not delete one time. You have to delete every single text you sent and the other persons. So if you text for a hr you will be deleting an hrs worth of texting. Big improvement you can send pictures love that. I have never had a problem with google voice i love using it. You can have your 5 star back after you fix this mess.
