- Audio file size
calculates the size of the audio file for a given sample rate, bit rate, tracks and lengths in seconds
Would be very handy, doing exactly what the author says, BUT-- There's a FATAL math bug that seems to get the resulting file size off by a factor of 8!! Assuming the math can be fixed easily and accurately, other nice-to-have features would be: - option to toggle between minutes & seconds - option to enter a filesize (along with sample-rate & bitdepth) and get length in min/sec It's a free app, so features are an is-what-it-is proposition, but to have bad math is rather inexcusable.
The three or four other reviews point out everything that I could think of, except one factor: compression type. There's lossless (.wav) and more highly compressed however lossy formats (. Mp3). The examples are not the only formats, obviously, but you see my point; an mpeg layer 3 file will be a much smaller file than a wave file. Those add a whole different side to the app.
Neat app that could be great. Biggest issue I have is that it asks to use my location. I see no reason for this and it's very annoying. Also, shouldn't file size calculations vary depending on format (mp3, wav, aif, etc.) and compression levels?
