Talking Animals' Biggest Adventure arrive for the iPhone and iPod touch !

In a far future, mankind is extinct and Earth is populated by several tribes of speaking, human-like animals, living in a medieval world.

Rif of the Fox Tribe has traveled far from home with his companion Rhene to compete in a puzzle contest. The night before the contest someone steals the wondrous Orb of Storms, an ancient relic of the Humans, and Rif is accused of being the thief.
Rif is able to convince his accusers to give him a chance to find the real thief and recover the Orb. Two warriors are assigned to assist and guard Rif in his quest, Eeah of the Elk Tribe and Okk of the Boar Tribe. In addition Rhene is held hostage by the Boar King to ensure Rif does not try to escape.

Your goal is to guide Rif on his adventure, find clues to locate the real thief, and solve challenges along the way. You can have Rif talk to Okk, Eeah, and other Morph characters that are encountered during Rif's travels. Rif can pick-up items he finds and give these items to others. Some will only trade information for precious items, although what a Morph considers precious can vary greatly.
With your help, Rif will be able to clear his good name and rescue his beloved!

Enchanting

Pros:

The voices are excellent, and the accompanying color coded subtitles make it easy to tell who was speaking, even with the sound off. The animation is also quite good, especially during the closeups. And, to top it all off, this game had something that very few modern games seem to....An actual plot. Playing this game literally felt like stepping into a Redwall novel! The witty exchanges between the charactersquickly made this game one of my favorites.

Cons:

The game crashes a lot, especially during the starting sequence. The prologue (shown in the screenshots) has a weird, cartoony look, surprising considering the stellar animation in the rest of the game. This game was, simply put, not made for an ipod screen, and the controls are a nightmare. Selecting objects is especially challenging, but I find that it helps if you slide your finger across the object instead of clicking on it. Some of the characters at the fair move rather quickly, so by the time I manage to click the miniscule "Talk To" button, they're long gone. However, this is only one locations, and as it is not necessary to talk to any of these characters, it doesn't really affect gameplay.

Overall:

Despite a few minor bugs, Inherit the Earth is an enchanting, and very amusing game. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys games with puzzles or strategy. Definitely worth the $2.

Finally Something Not Absurdly Casual

Thank you for the update, guys; I'd been so disappointed about not being able to play on OS4.

Inherit the Earth delivers a classic adventure game experience on a mobile platform - something that other mobile games have missed by offering so little variety in either mechanics or environments and instead relying on repeating a dull, hackneyed mechanic over and over. Whatever happened to immersion? Inherit the Earth does a superb job of maintaining it.

The visuals, voice acting, dialogue and plot are dated, so they are less than astounding when compared to contemporary counterparts; however, Inherit the Earth carries in it the magic of oldschool adventure games that seems to have been lost in today's game market.

ItE doesn't ask you to put in extra money to buy special items, doesn't ask you to come back every hour to claim your cash, doesn't try to egg you into inviting your friends to play in a twisted viral marketing tactic. It is a game, pure and simple - charming, innocent, interesting, expansive. It has not been remade, only redistributed on the iPhone, but that has not cut the value of this yet memorable game.

This is what games used to be like.

I can remember when video games had pixilated graphics, 4-color sprites, synthesized beeps for music, and a difficulty level that was unheard of by today's standards. Back when video games were true tests of skill and wit, there were point-and-click adventures. Inherit the Earth was one example of this type of game. I was never able to play the original PC version, so I downloaded the iPod version. The storyline is decent, the graphics are true to the original game, and the voice acting is spot-on. Sadly, the controls are imprecise. Yes, it will take several tries to press the right buttons, text, or locations on the map. That aside, this game is very impressive.

I would recommend this game to hard-core adventure game fans, people who like human-like animals, or individuals seeking a good puzzling challenge. Though this game is not for the feint-at-heart, it is a good game.
