Try this strategy

Use a small tank or jeep to get close to enemy vehicles then quickly retreat to your base before they can fire on you. The enemy vehicles will follow you. Carefully position your launchers behind the base and put tanks on either side to protect them. The launchers and other tanks will quickly take out the enemy vehicles before they can do much damage. Repeat this until you can destroy the enemy base. It works well for many levels (3,7,12 etc...).

Your vehicles should not move once you place them. This is very annoying so only four stars.

Needs Instructions

As a long-time fan of RTS games, I'd like to be able to give a coherent view of the app, but I can't. Why not? Because the game is almost totally devoid of instructions. On the one-page instruction screen I learn how to scroll the map, and gather and move units. That's it. Nothing abut unit types, resource gathering, or how to capture those enticing little "strategic buildings" that pepper the map. While I'm at it, it would also be nice if the game had a speed control, and perhaps a selection for unit instructions. You know, the basic attack anything/attack but don't go to far/stay where I bloody well tell you setting. Somebody tell me if I should be enjoying this or not...

Finally a Sequel, but with a UI downgrade :(

Forest Fire is a worthy successor to Strategic Assault, which WAS an excellent RTS game. However, Forest Fire and the latest update to Strategic Assault have a new user interface which is a major disappointment compared to the previous version- unit grouping is eliminated, and unit building requires navigation to the factory. If you could choose between old and new interfaces by rotating the iPhone, that would great, but no such luck. OTOH, its only $1, and game play is still ok. Maybe 3 stars if I had never played the previous version.
