Great Point&Click style puzzler
I really enjoyed this game. It's a lot of fun and well worth checking out if you're fans of old school point and click adventures or fans of puzzle adventures. The graphics are very charming and the sound fits the mood of the game very well. If I have any complaint about this game, it's that I wish there was more of it. I really hope that EA puts out a sequel or another similar game.
Two years ago I bought this game for my iPod Touch 3 and enjoyed it very much as you can see from my review above. Recently I decided to revisit it and see how it's held up, also since enough time had passed that I didn't remember the solutions to the puzzles very well. This time I played it on my iPad and unlike some non native iPad games, this one looked very good on my iPad 1, even with the screen stretched out at 2x. I think the game held up ver well and still agree with everything I wrote before. In fact I think it's one of the best games in EA's iOS library. Even though it's starting to look pretty unlikely, I am still hoping for a sequel or at least something of a similar nature.
A very interesting concept and story marred by lackluster implementation; the incredibly slow actions in particular make every room more irritating than enjoyable. Most of the mechanics repeat several times with no change, just for extra filler, and there are many overused mini-puzzles like a tiny tower of Hanoi and laser guide, with none evolving extra complexity. All puzzles are spatial logic, no verbal or math or any other topic. EA really should have insisted on a much better game when it was released for $4, but it was obviously rushed. Now that it's free, it's about right.
If you're not in grade school, this game is probably too simple to be challenging at all; if you're like me you might want to check it out just to see what other brain games are around the store, but it's a big disappointment. You'll breeze right through.
As for the adults who rated the game down because they missed the battery in one room, no one can help them.
Entertaining and imaginative... Now, I want more!
This game is not for those who want a simple (fast paced) arcade (test your reflexes) game. It requires some level of imagination and inventiveness. However, it is also not a game that requires a PhD or a Mensa membership to finish. It's simply a fun game with a wonderful storyline... And, I want more! (Note: I used to love Infocom and Sierra's games with intricate plots and mysteries. Now, EA is coming out with this and other games like Cause of Death. I really hope to see more from EA! Even though I enjoy games like Pinball, mysteries and well written computer games with excellent back-stories are my absolute favorite--and WORTH the money to buy).
