App does not work
I tried this device two day. Had the car two hours my fatal for the time and sight up fee was 125 dollars. This app doesn't work well. First car wouldn't go into drive, tried to cancel reservation, but the app crashed every time I tried to do so. I had to go home and use my pc to cancel res. And start a new one. Once that was taken car of I reserved another car. I was under the impression that you reserved the car and you used it till your done, wrong. I failed to understand that I had to reserve car for a window of time. I went into a store and came out to a car that was locked. My one hour res had ended. I tried to re rent the car but the app said it was not available. I called in to have it opened to get my stuff from the car and was told I would have reserve it again. Well doing so I invited two charges for changing the reservation. One for 30 and another for 50. I had the app less than three hours and I was out over s hundred dollars. Also the operators were condescending and spoke from a script. I will not use this device again. I am having AMEX reverse all the charges as I was completely unsatisfied
Don't waste your time or money!
We used Zipcar based on the recommendation of a friend to go to the coast for the day. It was the worst car rental experience I've ever had!
The car was filthy and smelled like smoke. Then, an hour outside the city, we stopped for gas and to plug in my phone.
THE GAS CARD DID NOT WORK. We spent 20 minutes trying to pay for gas with the gas card... even the attendant couldn't do it. We kept going thru the process at the pump, only to get 'cancelled' every time. We ended up paying our own money for gas, which was supposed to be included in the rental.
NONE OF THE 3 POWER OUTLETS IN THE CAR WOULD WORK! There was no USB port in the car, so we had to use the lighter adapter for the 12 volt outlets. None... NONE of the 3 worked! We had to pull in to a fast food restaurant and plug my phone in to a wall outlet to call Zipcar customer service.
I was told by the man I spoke with that there was nothing he could do (except give me a 30 minute extension on my rental. We had paid for the full day... so a 30 minute extension did NOtHING for me).
So... we paid the $35 membership fee, the $79 rental fee and $40 of our own money for gas for a car that was dirty, smelled like smoke and had no functioning power source.
It turned out to be a very expensive, and frustrating, one day car rental. Seriously, Don't waste your money on this service!!!!!!! It's a great idea, but falls way short. I will never use it again.
App totally unusable!!!
What is going on with ZipCar???? Car sharers need an app that works or we book with the competition that do have apps that work. For over a month, I haven't been able to make reservations with the app. It either closes or I get an error message that says "Request Failed. Internal server error (500)." I've upgraded the app and my phone and still have the same issue. Can only book directly from the website or by calling which is inconvenient. When three emails to tech support didn't fix the problem, I went to my local office and they couldn't shed any light on the issue either. The guy in the office had the same issue on his phone. No one seems in any hurry to fix this problem. Is ZipCar pulling out of the Seattle market? If this isn't fixed by the end of the month, I'll be downgrading my membership. No sense paying for an EVP plan if I can't use my account conveniently on the go and am forced to rent from Car2Go and Reach Now to get around.
