THIS is the App you guys have been asking for: X-Plane CARRIER.
This app is the most realistic aerial combat simulation for any mobile device (by far), and is the most realistic carrier-ops simulation for any mobile device as well.
Your ultimate goal is to take off from the carrier, destroy your adversary in the air without being shot down yourself, and return to the carrier for landing.
You will receive a score based on your performance. How high how can you score? We have never managed to exceed a 90% here.
Catapults, guns, guided missiles, and arresting gear are all realistically simulated (more realistically than any other any mobile device app by far), giving you the ultimate aviation challenges of aircraft carrier operations and aerial combat in one simulation.
You will have access to the World-War-2 F4U Corsair, a screaming 350+ mph fighter packing two THOUSAND horsepower.
This goes against the nimble Japanese A6M 'Zero'... a much slower and less powerful, but much MORE MANEUVERABLE, adversary.
You can fly either plane against the other, to experiment in the advantages of speed versus maneuverability.
You can also try the mighty F-4 Phantom, with over thirty-two THOUSAND pounds of thrust, and four air-to-air guided missiles, and guns if those fail.
This bird flies against the surprisingly fast and agile Mig-21 Fishbed, which puts up an amazing fight with it's light weight and tight turns.
As well, you can take the Mig up against the Phantom to try the battle from the other side. Which plane is better in the dog-fight?
After winning the aerial engagement, of course, the battle is only half-won... you still have to put the plane on the carrier to FINISH your flight!
Google 'carrier landings' to learn how... what you see there DOES apply to this simulation... all of the X-Plane simulations are realistic enough that you can just research how to fly the REAL planes, and use that research to see how to fly X-Plane! Our instructions ARE THE DESCRIPTIONS OF HOW TO FLY THE REAL PLANE. The X-Plane simulations are actually that realistic.
Once you have licked the violent aerial engagements and tricky carrier operations in day, night, clear, cloudy, calm, and windy conditions, battling all different sorts of adversaries in all different sorts of weather at all times of day, you can move on to MULTIPLAYER! This gets really, really, fun, of course, because this is the first-ever X-Plane simulation where you can shoot your opponent down to a flaming, horrible death.

What's New in Version 9.75
New plane: P-38 Lightning!
This plan is fast and heavy... how does it stack up against the light-weight Zero?
Not bad, not good
I find this app to be fun for some time killing... I find the advice box to be annoying, I can't find a way to turn them off... Very annoying. One other issue is the lack of rudder peddles. Makes crabbing into the wind impossible, let alone maintaining a level flight altitude loss. (wing down top rudder).
Also it would be nice to have IFR... makes approaches that much more interesting.
Also this app need a "VOV" to be more real... reading the ball is near impossible, Landing on the carrier is difficult... forget getting a 3 wire hook. A j45 engine sounds very different from the GE F404 and a prop on the P38 has a unique sound from the prop on the F4U... Speaking of sound the chain gun sounds different on the F14... kind of like a burp... as compared to the to the sound of the 6 50 cals or the 4 20mm funs on the F4U.
Flight controls are supper touchy and hard to adjust... access to adjustment is easy just finding the right setting is hard. The F16 or F22 are not aircraft for this app... but would be fun to try. Why not add the F35, F117, B ONE, B2 or even better yet the AV8B. If your going that far you should add the A4, A7 F8 A6 EA6B and CH 46, UH1N, CH 53E, C-12 OV-10, AH 1...
It is just a game in the end and not a true flight sim...
The real thing
I'll admit; it was pretty hard getting the learning curve on this thing. A couple of good-ish flights and google questions later, I get what everyone is talking about. The realism that gets put into all X-plane games is simply stunning (although the graphics could use a bit of a tune-up). I'll just say, out of all my air simulation apps, this one goes into my top 3 (the first being the actual X-plane and then X-plane airliner). Highly recommend if you're up for a challenge with a very rewarding....reward, I guess.
This game/sim is amazing. You can shoot down enemy planes, and it tells you how good your carrier landing was, so you can try and best yourself. Don't listen to the people that can't figure it out how to use it. But I highly recommend the x-plane 4G version for new devices. Has 40+ aircraft and tons of maps.
If you aren't sure about the $10, try X-plane trainer. It's a basic Cessna and let's you get a feel for the game. Trainer is boring though..
