The Best Turn-Based First-Person RPG on the App Store, Hands down!!!
All the bad reviews below are probably written by folks that skipped the dialogue throughout their gaming careers if you know what I mean. If you are looking for a fast paced run & gun then get Wolfenstein 3D or Doom Classic. This is not that type of game.
This gem of a game is more like a modern Eye of the Beholder or The Bards Tale(the 80's one, not the funny XBox one that is now on iOS too) with Doom II's story, characters, graphics, sounds and overall theme. If you've played Wolfenstein RPG then you'll be familiar with this game already. It's like that great game but bigger, badder and more Doom-y.
My only regret about getting Doom II RPG is that I waited so long to get it. I've been waiting for a sale for a while and finally broke down and got it. Within minutes I was mad at myself for being cheap. It's only $2.99 and in retrospect, I would have paid more. It's dozens of hours of fun with multiple characters that each have different stats and dialogue. I love it.
P.s. Doom 3 RPG and Rage RPG would be really great. Hint, hint....
First off, this is not a regular doom game. The people complaining are either too stupid to read the 'RPG' in the title, or are just trying to find something to b**** about. I bought like 300 or 400 dollars worth of games and apps for my iPad. This however, is the only game I've played to the end. The next in line would be galaxy on fire 2, which was also great. But I play this on my iPad and iPod touch simultaneously (iPod when I'm traveling cus it's smaller) I plan on playing this for months..the only thing I absolutely hate, is that ID didn't make a 'doom rpg' for the iPod or iPad..I'm very upset that it's available for other mobile devices but not the iPhone. I have to download the stupid wolfenstein instead. Please devs, if you're reading, make a very very easy step and port it to iOS. Since it's already in mobile format, most of the work should be done. And if it'll make you some money, than why not? Anyway, this is a great game, that's great for playing a while, or wasting some time. Again, please release the first one on the ipad/ipod or a completely new one
but there's not much else nice about it. It's pretty much wolfenstein rpg again, except it's not as good. The weapons are underpowered, making every battle feel just too long. The game tries to make up for it's easy difficulty by ambushing you constantly, much like in the wolf rpg. At first it's not so bad, but they occur too often and you start to realize that ambuses are just cheap. Eventually you get to hell where you can be ambushed by countless monsters with multiple archdemons mixed in. The problem with this is that it's sometimes very hard just to get through to the archdemon, as killing the other monsters is useless because they will get ressurected. Sometimes you'll just get trapped by a constantly ressurected monster blocking a doorway with no way to kill the archdemons. Speaking of killing, the graphics seem to have been toned down as to not get rejected or a 17+ rating from apple. The only animation for weapons hitting monsters is the lame "I got hit so I'm gonna reel backwards" effect. At least their remains are a bit gory. The minigames are kind of fun and the gunplay ranges from boring to interesting, but the complete lack of strategy and limited "rpg" elements (it's just a basic auto-level) make this game feel like a mobile port. Which it probably is.
