What's New in Version 7.0
New major feature:
Share & Collaborate:
Now you can share & collaborate your PDF files and annotations in real time.
iOS 7 compatibility update. Works beautifully on iOS 7.
Performance enhancements. This update contains stability improvements.
I currently use the application with electronic text books. I can easily create a bookmark anywhere within the text. The application generates a running list of all of the bookmarks I make. When I select a bookmark from the list, the application presents the bookmarked page. So, for example, I can bookmark a set of problems I am working on at the end of a chapter, and the answers to the problems at the end of the book, and then quickly switch back and forth between the two. This functionality, combined with the ability to select from the author's own predefined table of contents (called Outlines) as well as the application's content search capability, creates a comprehensive set of tools for quickly navigating anywhere I want to go pretty much instantly. I was not able to find all of these features in Adobe's pdf reader or in Apple's iBook application. There are several other features (which may very well be available in other applications) that help round out this application, such as zoom, multiple ways to navigate and scroll through the book, etc. So far, the only feature that doesn't seem to work as well I think it should is the manipulation of some of the drawing tools, such as the arrow tool. I wasn't able to modify the length of an arrow after I created it. I must say, however, that I haven't had time to thoroughly explore whether it was user error or a problem with the product. Overall I am very pleased with this application.
Vitrium ProtectedPDF - Success!
I HATE spending more than a few dollars on an app. But I also love finding solutions to things (especially when it for my wife!). Her school, Grand Canyon University, uses secured PDF files for here textbooks. I'm guessing similar to those at University of Phenix.
She was able to read here books on her Macbook but hated having to carry it around all the time. After attempts to open the books on the iPad, Kindle Fire, and out of desperation a Windows Surface (I was REALY desperate, sorry); I finally ran across this app. Ten bucks though... It better work.
And it does! Points for me from the wife. 4-stars is for the fact that there are two separate apps, one for the iPad and another for the iPhone. So now I have to spend $20 if she want's to read on here phone too?!?! I'm going to stop writing before I get myself aggravated at that and cut it back to 3-stars.
So the morals of the story are 1) a good app is always worth it, and 2) a Windows device never is.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS APP!
This app is just really not good. I didn't realize how bad it was until i downloaded a different one, iAnnotate, instead because I was unhappy with it. iAnnotate was far and away better than this app. I am a veterinary student who just purchased an iPad to take notes during class. I was really beginning to worry that this was not going to be as efffective as I hoped and then iAnnotate saved the day. My problems with THIS app are as follows:
-Pages load very slowly. Every time I scrolled on the page it would have to load that part of the page!
-Highlighting text actually made the words appear fainter which totally defeats the purpose.
-The annotating tools are bulky and hard to use.
-When adding text to my PDF files the text box would begin about half an inch ABOVE where I touched the screen. MOVING text was TERRIBLE. No simple drag and drop, the process is extremely laborious.
iAnnotate is far and away superior. I'm not sure where all these 5 star reviews came from but I am really displeased having spent the money for this awful app that I will now be deleting from my ipad.
