Customer Reviews

$20 coupon: UberMN28

First of all, if you haven’t taken a ride yet make sure you use the coupon "UberMN28" to get $20 off your first ride! Enter it right before you request a ride. Go to the promotions tab on the app and enter the coupon there. Might as well try it out since it probably won't cost you a thing!!

The app is simple, easy to use and intuitive by design, giving you important info like the driver’s face, phone number, and car make and model. It’s amazing how quick and seamless the entire process is. A car comes to your door within minutes of pressing a button! The drivers are real people, they are very polite and their cars are clean! Some even come with complimentary water, gum and candy! Even if you want to charge your phone, a lot of drivers have phone chargers at your ready! UberX is definitely cheaper than your average cab. After all this, I don’t see why you would ever use a yellow cab again. Even if you want to get a black car on the occasional night out, it’s still cheaper and more convenient than hiring your own private driver.

The customer support is also fantastic. I got overcharged on one of my trips and I didn’t have to say anything more than a comment on my driver feedback to get a full refund. I’m very happy and I hope Uber continues to exceed my expectations in not only the app but customer service! I also prefer Uber much more than other competitors, mainly because they have so much more supply and cars are always just a few minutes away!!

Buggy App and Lousy Customer Service by Uber (the company)

Uber has devolved from one of the most exciting customer experiences of the decade to a level of customer service today that rivals cable companies for its contempt for riders (and probably drivers too). Uber (the company) is completely not interested in feedback on problems using its software or address concerns about driver behavior. There is no contact number, no email, only a menu of carefully crafted feedback items, not of which would consider the possibility that the app might have problems.
The problems are numerous. They span GUI problems, network problems and business model problems. Uber does not ask, indeed does not even accept feedback on any of the above concerns. I have experienced first-hand a sluggish unusable interface, dropped driver assignments, inablity to exchange messages via the app, inability to use payment methods. On the passenger experience side, I have experienced drivers who call ahead and ask for my destinateion. If my destination is too nearby, they will immediately drop the ride because they want a bigger fare. I have experienced high-end "Uber Black" drivers who have harrassed me to ensure they get a 5 star review, one going so far as to grab my phone out of my hands. Uber is totally uninterested and has no solution.
Although Uber is deaf to our concerns I, for one, and keenly interested in finding alternatives.

Buggy App

The guys/girls at Uber develping app's have absolutely no idea about what TESTING & usability means.

Many frequent app updates - but no change log? Then suddenly a 3 month old version of the app says "Ohh you need to update before you can use the app" - that is NOT the way to do it. That meant my Mother-In-Law could not order an Uber while traveling - since she was on 3G internet she could not update the app without breaking her transfer limit. Guys - you need to allow app's older than 3 month and keep new features isolated in your API/business logic so older versions still work.

Then we upgraded when Mother-In-Law phone to latest Uber App on Wi-Fi. Result - Uber App not starting at all on her iPhone 4S. Result - she will never use Uber again becuase it cause to many issues.

On iPhone 6 the app did not work in the last iteration without restarting the app 3-4 times

I don't know who is doing your quality control - but it seems like no-one is really doing quality control or testing.

And can we have release notes vs just the standard "Bug fixes and updates" line in iTunes store. Everything else is just lazy.
