I want my life back....
The cards.. They keep calling to me.. Like whispers heard when the wind breathes your name.. Constant flashbacks to battles won and evil vanquished..
But.. wait.. Something stirs inside my soul..
As I look about at all the carnage my card-wielding has dealt to beasts both real and only imagined in our darkest of hearts.. As I look around my vision blurs and swims before me for an instant and I see.. "job".. "study".. "family"....
What are these thing?? These.. Meaningless words?? Have I gone mad, I wonder as machines on wheels roar by a window in front of me.. This must be..
Before I have time to ponder my insanity further, a beast of such horror as would make the bravest knight's soul scream in fear, leaps in front of me.. Claws gleaming and saliva drooling off canines the size of small lances..
I turn to face this foe now.. Cards dropping into the palm of my hand from within my sleeve where they rest.. Ahh the comfort of the cards.. Let's see what you are capable of BEAST!!
As I rush into battle.. My whisps of a memory of another life vanish.. And all that's left is..
"DINNER TIME!!! Come down here now!! Your food will go cold!!"
Dammit.. My other life is calling.. Again.. For now..
Too fun. The poorly translated text scroll reminds me of the 80s, and really the whole game seems to have a Dragon Warrior type of feel. As everyone has commented, the fusion of rpg and poker is brilliant, and the AI is quite intelligent. The role of luck is likewise well done--sometimes you school the enemy, sometimes its the other way around, but your increasing number of special abilities skews luck in your favor. Some suggestions:
1) Turbo mode: special effects take a while and being able to speed them up would help.
2) Difficulty levels: Its hard enough, but a hardcore mode would be fun.
3) More random loot. Grinding out money for new items is fine, but some rare/epic items would increase replay value.
4) Probably too much to ask, but improved battery conservation would be great. Its a BAD idea to start playing when you dont have a charger with you. Not only is it a battery hog, you probably wont notice time passing until you get a 20% message.
Amazing game overall--get this one!
I am not a huge fan of poker but I still enjoy playing it. Even so, this game is awesome. The RPG aspects of the game are amazing as well. Many iphone RPG games lately have sucked because you may be able to upgrade your items but there is only one upgrade. You never have to make a choice between taking a weaker sword with poison or a stronger sword with no poison. There are never options. This game gives you options. The combination of poker and RPG is awesome. After playing this game (the second version) am will buy the first one just to be able to play them both. Not to mention it is a long game. So far after a good few hours of play I have only done a little over 1/4 of the game (i think).
Just a great game. I Totally recommend it. The graphics are good, sound is ok, gameplay is awesome, controls are just right, and the tutorial (which takes place as the game progresses is great). They don't throw everything at you at once but introduce new and exciting new things as you play. It is one fun game.
