All around fun, but lacking in some departments.

I would consider myself to be one of the biggest Splinter Cell fans in existence. I have played each of the games probably around ten times and they never get old to me. Splinter Cell is one of my top three game series. With that being said, there are a variety of things that makes this game both awesome and also lacking in some respects.

Let me start out by saying that this game is pretty nice looking. It is not the best I have seen on the app store but the graphics are nothing to complain about. The controls are decent and it gives a very Splinter Cell-ish vibe. It is fun to play, though the gunplay suffers a little because of the controls. Also, the AI is pretty awful. There is also some glitching occasionally which can be very annoying.
The game glitched on me during the Iraq level and Fischer ended up running directly through about five walls. I was actually to a part of the level that I hadn't been to and I didnt want to restart the level so I ended up just continuing on only to find later that I had to backtrack to a point that I could not access because I had never opened the gate to get there in the first place.

The character models look good and the game plays fairly well but the omission of many of the controls in the other games makes this game fall short. If you are a fan of action games or a splinter cell fan, I would still recommend this game

Fun, but....

This shares my problem with all gameloft games, it is strictly mediocre. Gameloft never seems to give their games any polish, you feel as if the game doesn't like you. NOVA is the best example of this, it is a halo ripoff, that never quite makes the jump to 'actualy fun' with all gameloft games, you see a glimmer of hope, a moment of immersion, and than it is blown away by mediocre gameplay, horrible plot, and voice acting that makes it sound as if this is the first time the actors have actually read their lines (granted, it is better in splinter cell than in some of their other games).

As I have mentioned, these games are shrouded in mediocrity, as if the creators decided that they shouldn't work to hard, seeing as this is a mobile game. Sure, you have to make the graphics a little dumbed down (to a point, look at rage, that's better than some modern games, defiantly better than most wii, and ps2 games) but why are mobile games stories always crap? Why couldn't you make a good atmosphere? I admit, with your hands in the way, that will often cut down on the immersion, but you could make a very good game on the iPad.

Why I am ranting here, is because you are obviously one of the richer iPad game developers, and you could use that money to make a actually good game! It would probably even be profitable. I may finish this later, need to get back to work.

Not your typical Splinter Cell`

Game graphics are good, on par with the console/PC versions. But the controls are horrible, offering nothing more than the now standard virtual joystick on the left side and action buttons on the right. Moving and firing your weapon is so cumbersome that the developers have obviously made it so Sam's character is very hard to kill. Moving Sam and then sliding your finger around to adjust his point of view at the same time is so awkward that Sam has obviously been made somewhat invulnerable. He can walk into point blank gunfire, he most likely will survive. He even will be able to take direct fire from a helicopter and survive. Blasts from rockets impacting not a couple feet away cause no harm. I ended up (the vast majority of the time) simply running straight up to enemy characters and knocking the out with a punch or kick rather than using stealth, because I knew Sam would survive.

Overall the classic look and feel of the Splinter Cell games is very much there, until I started to play it. Then it became a hand-holding-watch-the-story-unfold exercise, borderline tedious. Too bad, since improvement of the controls and making it much more difficult to survive would add volumes to the real value of the game. But I would not waster your money on this at this time.
