If you have to take notes for many hours a day everyday, if your time is more valuable to you than five dollars saving on the App Store, if personal support within 24 hours is important to you, then you need this high quality note-taking app. Please read other user reviews to find out why it’s worth it.
After more than 3 years of continuous development, 27 version upgrades, 3 complete overhauls, and 6 million downloads, we pride ourselves on being one of the most feature-rich and best quality note-taking apps on the App Store. The best thing about Notes Plus is not just its current quality and features but the future improvements being planned ahead.
Notes Plus is a powerful note-taking tool that supports handwriting, typing, audio recording and document annotation, among other things. Special features include close-up writing mode, beautiful ink effects, shape detection, a complete folder structure, a variety of export options, automatic backup to Dropbox and so forth.
1. BEST HANDWRITING EXPERIENCE
Beautiful vector-graphic ink effect turns your handwriting into a work of art, razor-sharp at any resolution. Close-up writing mode lets you write comfortably with your big finger or stylus just like pen on paper. Rest your palm and wrist on the Palm Pad or just below the close-up view.
For a taste of the handwriting experience, get our FREE app: INKredible.
2. TYPED TEXT
Mix typing with handwriting by inserting customizable textboxes or full-page text in any font the iPad supports.
Record audio easily while taking notes. A recording session can span many pages and you can hear only what was recorded on one of those pages. When you switch to another app, recording continues in the background.
Import a PDF or Microsoft Word document to Notes Plus library for annotating. You can also insert blank pages for extra notes!
5. IMAGES and SHAPES
Enrich your notes with images from Photos, Camera Rolls, or the web. You can then rotate and resize them as you see fit. Add shapes (lines, ellipses, polygons) by an intelligent shape detection or from a library of pre-defined shapes.
6. AUTOMATIC BACKUP WITH DROPBOX
Take notes without worrying about backing up all your important data. Just turn on the functionality and let Notes Plus do the rest. Have a piece of mind to retain your notes even if you lost your iPad. You can even take notes on more than one iPad and have your notes synced automatically.
7. BUILT-IN WEB BROWSER
Enjoy an innovative dual screen interface and slide in a built-in web browser with a quick gesture. You can then conveniently send web images or screen captures to your notes. You can lock access to the web if needed.
8. COMPLETE FOLDER STRUCTURE
A notebook can have as many pages as you want and can be stored in folders or subfolders like in a Mac or PC file system. Password protection of your notebooks/folders is also possible. You can also search for notebook titles and content.
9. HANDWRITING RECOGNITION (in-app purchase)
Conveniently convert your handwriting (in one of the many supported languages) to searchable text with MyScript™ handwriting recognition module.
10. CLEAN & NATURAL USER INTERFACE
As you can see from the screenshots, Notes Plus stands out for its clean interface. A great effort has been put in to hide controls to minimize clutter. You should be able to start without a tutorial, but in case you need one, there's the included Quick Start Guide. Check it out now at: http://notesplusapp.com/files/QuickStart_V4.pdf

The best app for notes
If you want the best app then this is it. For both handwritten and text (keyboard) notes.
Handwriting looks great due to new pens, including pencil, fountain pen, calligraphy pen etc. My writing never looked as good on paper. Also ability to vary any possible things within the pen, for unlimited possibilities for writing.
Ability to take notes via Keyboard and vary font, color, etc. All the fonts on the iPad available in the app to use. So your text look great.
Automatically searchable from within search bar. If you buy the plugin for handwriting to text then you can have your handwriting remain but be indexable due to this plugin.
Syncs to Dropbox, export via PDF, Image, or web archive to Google Docs / Drive or Evernote (both index PDF's and Image (evernote payed feature), which means your text is searchable on desktop).
Unlimited Folders, notebooks, pages, covers.... etc. I can keep going all day long.
For all those that give this bad reviews how about asking for support first. I have had problems and they were ALL solved in the past, the support is very active.
If you use an iPad 1 then I think that the support is put back in to the app, but please understand that the iPad1 is like a using a 386 now days, and things move forward and more CPU is needed to accomplish things (not to mention Apple dropping updates for iPad1)
Yes Yes this is the app you're looking for
This app doubles the value of my iPad. It is head and shoulders above other note-taking apps. For example:
- the Keyboard has arrow keys to move the cursor. And forward-delete. Please. Shouldn't every notes app?
-- The best 'close-up' handwriting feature (or Zoom or whatever it's called) -- very smooth and natural feel. Include files (e.g. PDF) in a note -- unlike evernote where a file is a note of its own.
- Astonishingly good handwriting recognition (my writing is gibberish for most humans)
- The 'fountain pen' ink looks better than my own handwriting.
When choosing a Notes app, I worried about cross-platform syncing. But the solution is to just upload the notebook to Evernote (or dropbox etc etc) as a PDF. Basically this is just the same thing you would do with Penultimate or Notability.
I'd like to see some features in the future including:
- Better notebook management, such as simpler page-titling, merging pages,
- Extending pages automatically (my workaround is to change default page length to 30 inches)
- the ability to export individual pages
- When I convert script to text, I'd like to still retain the script so I can compare and correct the text.
The support is very good considering it's a one-man operation.
Three thumbs up!!!
What Paper Grew Up To Be
This app does what you used daydream your pad of paper and ink pen would do.
Do you need this app? The "Tips" notebook that's included said it well "Notes Plus was designed to focus on handwriting and drawing for visual notes. If you only type to take notes, there is no point in using Notes Plus." and, "Notes Plus was designed for heavy note takers... If you only jot down something once in a while, there are much simpler apps out there."
That said, this app is so flexible and easy to use and learn that it might make you into an avid note taker. It really successfully brings the experience of ink and paper into the tablet world.
Go through the Quick Start guide when you first install it. Really. You need to learn its paradigm and you can quickly with the guide.
Best with a stylist but your finger should work too.
Only problem I've had so far is that sometimes the work area doesn't render on my screen. I'm guessing that's because I'm on an iPad 1 so I'm not too upset.
BTW, it works on an iPad 1!!
This quickly became a favorite app. I have even chuckled when I use it because it does what I need, when I need it, and it does it in a really cool way.
