Minor bugs fixes
Useful app but badly needs update
This app is more like a good book that gets published and provides lots of useful information, but then as time passes, starts to become less relevant.
Don't get me wrong, it's still good with regard to the regional information on the wines of France, but the vintage ratings are woefully out of date, with the last vintage rated being 2008. That was a complaint another reviewer made a year and half ago and nothing has changed. Now that 2015 is soon upon us, wines that are meant to be drunk within the first 3-6 years of the vintage (e.g., 98% of all wines), are now either already history or over the hill, rendering the vintage rating section of this app irrelevant to all your wines except the collectibles and other assorted age-worthy wines you may have.
It's a shame Hachette hasn't stuck to this app and worked on keeping it current because the vintage ratings are a great feature that becomes less and less useful each passing day.
That's doesn't mean however that this app isn't worth getting. I definitely recommend it for learning about the various regions of France, especially the obscure ones few people know about. So I'd say that as long as you know this app is essentially now half the app it was born to be, and your expectations are reasonable, you can get something out of this app if you are not already an expert on the wines of francs.
I love this app. When I buy mysterious French bottles I immediately go to the map and find out where it is from. I wish there was this level of detail for other wine-producing countries. Probably most helpful if you already know a little about French wines. No ratings of individual wines, thank goodness.
We use it in our restaurant.
A great quick reference guide to the wines of France. I have a restaurant and this application is perfect for my waiters to use when they need a concise info on a French wine in a pinch. Easy to use, intuitive and simple enough for anyone to refer to when looking at a wine list or in a wine store. The price is right too.
