The MVV-App is a journey planning application created by the Munich transport association (MVV). As well as the MVV-internet journey planner, it provides entire bus and train connections quickly and reliably. You can also purchase selected MVV tickets using the MVV-App on your smartphone.
The journey planning information will help you to find the quickest connection from A to B. Just enter the name of the stop, the address or the point of interest as your start or destination or use your current location as your starting point.
The result includes footpath directions to your starting or destination point. You can even mark a preferred connection as your favourite. Additionally, the ticket you will need for the requested connection is shown. If you choose the appropriate settings, you can also avoid stairs.
The departure monitor indicates the next departures for each stop, including even real-time in many cases. Entering a stop is very simple as the MVV-App knows all the stops and makes suggestions based on the initial letter(s).
You can purchase selected MVV tickets using the MVV-App on your smartphone. Register once and choose your ticket in the app before starting your journey. You can pay conveniently by credit card or by direct debit. The ticket is then automatically saved in you customer account and can be presented at any time – even if you don’t have an internet connection anymore. As electronic tickets are personalized, you have to bring your official photo ID.
The MVV-App provides you with various plans and tariff maps, e. g. an urban rail network map (including all S- and U-Bahn lines of the entire MVV network).
To improve up to the minute information for passengers, we have added an interactive component to the passenger network (part of the APP). This feature which is integrated in the journey planning application allows passengers to inform other passengers quickly about bus and train delays.
Thank you very much for your constructive feedback. With every new update, we try to implement the improvement suggestions we receive. With the latest update we have revised our data protection policy in order to comply with the new GDPR. In case of questions regarding this or general enquiries regarding the App, please feel free to contact our customer support service.
Ratings and Reviews
This isn’t much more than an online timetable app. Actual cancellations or delays never seem to show up in the app. In a city like Munich where trains and buses are almost never on time and prolonged cancellations are frequent, this is quite useless. Plus, every bit of information is pulled from the servers with superslow connections so that everything is sluggish. A real shame compared to other cities like bvg app which is quite accurate and responsive, but unfortunately I’m stuck in Munich for a while.
You'd wouldn't think a free app could be a rip-off
... But this one cost me 60 euros. You can't buy tickets in advance on this app. God knows why. But it will happily trick you into thinking you have, at least until an inspector asks you to produce it. Then you find the truth: you can do a search for connections 10 months into the future, day, time and everything. But when you click "buy", the ticket they sell you is valid starting now--and expires in three hours.
This is incompetence verging on dishonesty. I'd think it was intentional, but everything else about the UI is so poorly thought out and executed, I guess the designers have just never met a human before.
Use the app. It serves a necessary function. But be careful!
Easy user interface and functionality is very good
